Documentary on Tibet's lost kingdom

Dharamsala, July 15 (IANS) Film producers from three countries have come together to make a one-hour investigative documentary on the mysterious disappearance of the 17th Century Tibetan kingdom of Guge.

The documentary will be made by Off the Fence, a Dutch independent production and distribution company, in cooperation with France 5, Bang Singapore and the Media Development Authority of Singapore, says a Tibetan website.

The film, shooting for which is underway, is to be released in October.

The producers claim it will be "visually spectacular".

The co-production is directed by Patrick Fleming, who has production credits for a plethora of channels including Channel 4, ITV and Five in the UK and Discovery and National Geographic.

The kingdom of Guge once controlled the trade in gold, silk and spices between India and China. Besides, it was the cradle of Himalayan Buddhism for two centuries. However, it vanished without a trace in 1630.
