'Kalabham tharam' holds Kerala spellbound
By Paresh C. Palicha, Indo-Asian News Service
Kochi, July 13 (IANS) The music charts remain mostly unchanged with "Vadakkumnathan" dominating the audio market and songs from new movies still waiting to catch the fancy of the listeners.
The top five Malayalam songs are:
1. "Kalabham tharam": Film: "Vadakkumnathan"; Music: Raveendran; Lyrics: Gireesh Puthencherry; Singers: K.S. Chitra and Biju Narayanan. There are no superlatives left to describe the song, which has seen stupendous success.
2. "Gange" - Film: "Vadakkumnathan"; Music: Raveendran; Lyrics: Gireesh Puthencherry; Singer: K.J. Yesudas. A purely classical-based song in Yesudas' vintage voice makes it to the list.
3. "Aattinkarayorathe" - Film: "Rasathantram"; Music: Ilayaraja; Lyrics: Gireesh Puthencherry; Singer: Manjari. The charm of this song still holds.
4. "Oru killi pattu mulave" - Film:
"Vadakkumnathan"; Music: Raveendran; Lyrics: Gireesh Puthencherry; Singers: K.J. Yesudas and K.S. Chitra. Yet another song from the same film tells a lot about its musical success.
5. "Oru Pennkidaavu" - Film: "Prajapathi"; Music: Thej Mervin; Lyrics: Gireesh Puthencherry; Singers: Sujatha and Jassie Gift. This is a token song representing the current trend with Jassie Gift's voice as a stamp.
