Sonu Nigam's patriotic tune
By Swati R. Chaudhary, Indo-Asian News Service
Mumbai, Aug 7 (IANS) Singer Sonu Nigam's new single 'Yeh rashtra
prem ki bhavna' (This feeling of patriotism) can be downloaded
on mobile telephones.
Deepak Pandit composed the song, reports Bollywood Trade.
"I was working on this song much before the unfortunate 7/11
(Mumbai train bombings) happened. This is a patriotic song aimed
at connecting to the masses, especially youth of today," said
Nigam.
"The song is very different as it's not an album. It is a
'single' only on the Internet without any company involvement.
You can have it as a ring tone or a caller tune. We mainly want
to connect to people through mobiles," he said.
"It's a patriotic song mainly targeting the youngsters who are a
lot more cool, open and chilled out. It's got to do with
generating awareness about our country. Patriotism is not about
'right' or 'wrong'. It's about our efforts in making our country
the best.
"We want to propagate humanity
and freedom through this song," said Nigam, who is all set to
fly to the US with Talat Aziz for a concert.
Music channels MTV, Channel [V], Radio city and Zee have come
forward to promote the song. Radio Mirchi and the Times group
are all for the song.

Busy days for Arbaaz Khan
Arbaaz Khan seems to be on cloud nine these days with
interesting films in his kitty.
After playing a cop in "Garv: Pride and Honour", the actor is
all geared up to play a cop again in Apoorva Lakhia's "Shootout
At Lokhandwala", reports Bollywood Trade.
"The film is based on the 1992 shootout in Mumbai. I play Javed
Shaikh, a very honest and focused cop who is disgruntled with
the system. He is a family man and doesn't want his son to
become a policeman," said Arbaaz.
Talking about Sanjay Gupta's "Dus Kahaniya", he said: "My short
story is called 'Matrimony'. It's about the life of a couple
played by Mandira Bedi and me, involving a few twists and turns.
It is about the mundane stuff in their marital life and how they
deal with it.
"It also has Sudhanshu Pandey. The film depicts various emotions
like honesty, betrayal, love, sacrifice and fear."
When quizzed about his plans to venture into direction or
production, he said: "I want to focus primarily on my acting
career right now. I wish to go ahead with production at a later
stage in my life."
Other films he has in hand include Ahmed Khan's "Fool and
Final", Hansal Mehta's "Woodstock Villa" and Priyadarshan's "Bhagam
Bhaag".

Rahul Khanna's 'trunk' call
Actor Rahul Khanna is doing his bit to create awareness among
the people about the disastrous plight of animals in India.
In a recently shot People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA)
ad campaign, he enlightens people about the predicament of
elephants held captive, reports Bollywood Trade.
"We approached Rahul with a request to help us raise awareness
about the plight of elephants in captivity, especially in zoos
and circuses. Not only did he pose along with a baby elephant
(made of thermocol) but also agreed to be bound in chains to
depict their suffering," said a PETA activist.

Sanjay Kapoor's 'marital' blues
Actor Sanjay Kapoor's forthcoming films - "Unns" and "Beach" -
deal with the institution of marriage and its many woes.
"Unns" does not revolve around the stereotypical wife who's
obsessed with sacrifices, reports Bollywood Trade.
"An Arabic word meaning love and affection, 'Unns' is mainly
about the sanctity of marriage and the husband-wife
relationship. I play the husband who overlooks his wife's past
and is willing to compromise unlike the typical trend where a
woman is constantly shown sacrificing and compromising," said
Sanjay.
Asked about "Beach" with Hrishita Bhatt and a newcomer, he said:
"The film is not a love triangle. I play this husband who has a
one-night stand. It's about how this one incident impacts his
life and changes it completely."
On his production plans, he said: "I don't wish to talk about it
right now. Once I'm ready with it and everything gets finalised,
I'll divulge the details."

Tusshar's 'Golmaal' role wows Kareena
Tusshar Kapoor, who was initially sceptical about his role in "Golmaal
- Fun Unlimited", is thrilled that his role of a mute in the
comic caper is winning him rave reviews from all, including
close friend Kareena Kapoor.
"I was apprehensive about playing a mute guy since dialogue
delivery is a prerequisite for comedy. I was really sacred but
I'm glad I could pull it off and my hard work has been
appreciated," he said.
With Kareena, it appears to be a mutual admiration society,
reports Bollywood Trade.
"We have similar tastes as far as food is concerned and we do
hang out together. I've seen 'Omkara' and I think she has done a
great job. It is so different from her character in '36 China
Town'," said Tusshar."
