Hollywood film news on August
Kelis takes control of her image
Indo-Asian News Service
London, Aug 28 (IANS) Singer Kelis has slammed female
stereotypes saying that a woman in control should not be seen as
negative.
According to contactmusic.com, Kelis shot to fame with her hit
number "Caught out there", which featured her attacking a
cheating boyfriend in song. She revealed that it is
frustrating when her confidence and strong beliefs are seen as
negative traits for female.
She said: "For me, saying 'I'm bossy' is a cute, tongue-in-cheek
way of saying that I'm in control of my life. Being the ideal of
a strong woman means utilising all the things
that god gives you.
"People are always saying to me, 'You're a strong female, so why
are you wearing a bikini on the cover of that magazine?' Being a
strong woman is misconstrued to be
something evil and ugly."
