Hollywood film news on August
Rolling Stones rock Swiss crowd
DPA
Zurich, Aug 6 (DPA) A performance by the Rolling Stones in front
of more than 60,000 people on the outskirts of Zurich is
believed to have set a record for rock concerts in
Switzerland.
Despite the huge crowd, which was apparently the largest ever
for a Swiss rock concert, the traffic was not as nightmarish as
local authorities feared. The Swiss railroad ran
60 specially scheduled trains to get people to the event
Saturday.
Some fans had waited since noon at the military airfield in
Duebendorf, near Zurich. Tickets were still available on the day
of the concert, the 11th stop on the European leg
of the band's ongoing "A Bigger Bang" world tour.
The show including two opening acts and performance by a
squadron of military jets, before the venerable Stones took the
stage late in the evening.
Led by singer Mick Jagger and lead guitarist Keith Richards, the
band performed new songs and classics such as "Honky Tonk Woman"
and "Satisfaction" on a massive,
62-metre-wide stage being hauled on tour and reassembled for
each concert.
