Thriller series '24' wins top Emmy

Los Angeles, Aug 28 (DPA) Fast paced thriller "24" won the Emmy
for best drama as the television world gathered for its biggest
night of the year.
The comedy "Office", a US version of the deadpan British
workplace drama, won the prize for best comedy series Sunday
night.
Kiefer Sutherland of "24" won an Emmy for the best actor in a
drama series, while Tony Shalhoub of "Monk" won his third trophy
for best actor in a comedy.
Mariska Hargitay of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" picked
up the prize for best actress in a drama series, while Julia
Louis-Dreyfus of "The New Adventures of Old
Christine" won best actress in a comedy series.
"Elizabeth I" won the prize for the best mini series, while "The
Daily Show With Jon Stewart" was named best variety, music or
comedy series.
