I didn't have to dub: Kareena
The spirited and sassy Kareena Kapoor, who is known to play fiery characters in most of her films, has now donned the role of a simple mute girl in "Chup Chup Ke", reports Bollywood Trade.
Kareena enjoyed playing this character for two reasons. "It was a challenge to play this role because I had to emote purely through sign language and expressions and, secondly, for the first time in my career I didn't have to go for dubbing!!" she chuckles mischievously.
Kareena enjoyed playing mute girl
Mumbai, June 7 Spirited and sassy Kareena Kapoor, who is known to play fiery characters in many of her films, enjoyed playing a simple, mute girl in her forthcoming film "Chup Chup Ke".
"It was a challenge to play this role because I had to emote purely through the sign language and expressions and, secondly, I didn't have to go for dubbing for the first time in my career," she chuckled mischievously.
She is currently having a ball at the Rock stars concert abroad. However, she is looking forward to coming back home in time for the release of "Chup Chup Ke" and to celebrate the success of "36 China Town" where she featured with her boyfriend Shahid Kapur.
Amrita is just like me, says Kareena
By Subhash K. Jha,
Mumbai, June 3 In an industry where there are only working relationships, Kareena Kapoor's friendship with Amrita Arora has outlasted all constraints of time, jealousy and backbiting.
"I really like that girl. She's fun, easygoing, hassle free and honest... just like me. Our friendship cannot be measured against other filmy friendships. I make friends for life. For example, my best friend has been with me from school. Amu (Amrita) too will remain with me," Kareena told IANS.
To prove Kareena right, Amrita is flying down to London. The two pals, who will be together for five days, intend to have a ball shopping, going to fun places and generally doing the things they cannot do in Mumbai with thousands of eyeballs trailing them.
"It is very simple. You have to do what you have to do if you want a friendship to last," said Amrita.
"Bebo (Kareena) is busy, and so am I. Besides our careers, we have our boyfriends to spend time with. I had this opportunity to open a restaurant in Birmingham on 3rd June. When I heard Bebo was arriving in London on 5th, I decided to stay back for here sake. We'll have ourselves a ball."
There's another incentive for Amrita to be in London.
"My boyfriend Usman (the British cricketer) celebrates his birthday on 9th June. So I'll get a chance to spend the day with him. Actually I am killing three birds with one stone."
How does she manage to keep this long-distance relationship going?
"Trust, friendship and lots of space. We need the time apart to excel in our individual professions. Also, the time we spend together is all quality time. I hardly get to see Usman these days. I'll be seeing him next week after three months.
"Thankfully, lots of shooting, shows and inaugurations happen there. Even the film that I am doing with R. Madhavan will be shot in August in Scotland for 20 days and in London for 15 days.
"So, I guess I'll get some time with Usman then. In professions such as ours we really have to make an effort to keep a relationship going."
'Omkara' will take me to another level: Kareena
(INTERVIEW)
By Subhash K. Jha,
Mumbai, May 23 Kareena Kapoor is charged up about Vishal Bhardwaj's "Omkara" and says it will take her to another level in her career.
"I just have a gut feeling about 'Omkara'. It is going to take me to another level,"
Kareena told IANS. She was planning to go to Cannes, where the film's producer Kumar Mangat showed an eight-minute show reel on
"Omkara", but could not.
"I was definitely planning my trip to Cannes this summer. The producer Kumar Mangat has put up an entire
'Omkara' stall at Cannes. I think it'd have been a great experience, but I am in the middle of my world concerts.
"People are already so curious about this Indian version of Shakespeare that Vishal Bhardwaj has done. I am sure they want to know what I have done with Desdemona. It's about time I moved to another level in my career. I feel 'Omkara' will take me there."
She finds her role in "Omkara" quite challenging.
"Believe me, playing Desdemona in 'Omkara' has been my most challenging experience as an actress. There are very few roles that have given me satisfaction - 'Refugee', 'Asoka', 'Chameli', 'Yuva' and now 'Omkara'. I myself can't believe what I have done here."
Another exciting film is "Don", where Kareena shares screen space with her favourite co-star Shah Rukh Khan.
"I am going from Vishal Bhardwaj to Ram Gopal Varma. It's quite a journey, and one that I am thoroughly looking forward to. You know I have always been Shah Rukh's biggest fan. Even before I came into the industry I used to find him smashing. I think our chemistry in 'Asoka' was unmatchable. Now I am sure what Ramu will do with the two of us will be something else."
She talks enthusiastically about her new release "36 China Town".
"It is a nice, sensuous suspense film and my second with Abbas-Mustan. I have lots of interesting scenes with Shahid (Kapur) and Akshaye Khanna. It's a full-on commercial film.
"But I don't have any really romantic scenes with Shahid. I wish some producer would cast us in a truly romantic film," rued
Kareena.
Shahid is having a ball like me, says Kareena (INTERVIEW)
By Subhash K. Jha,
Mumbai, May 20 Having lost weight before leaving for the Rock Stars concerts, Kareena Kapoor is making waves in the United States and says both she and Shahid Kapur are overwhelmed with the response.
"The concerts are going unbelievably well. We have finished our performance in Washington. And the ovation is unreal. For Shahid it is the first time. He has never done live concerts before. And he is having a ball like me,"
Kareena told IANS.
Kareena says the Rock Stars concerts are the best live shows of her career. "Every performance of mine from 'Yuva' to 'Chameli' to 'Fida' has the audiences on its feet."
Going into the details of the concerts, she says, "Shahid and I have an act together. I also have a dance number with Salman Khan. We have just finished Washington. Our next performance is in Boston. After that we will perform in Chicago, New York and then Toronto."
"Everywhere we go the screams of the audiences follow us. I tell you it is unreal. To watch them go insane after our performances gives me a high that I can't put into words."
Despite having an abbreviated role in her latest release "36 China Town",
Kareena says the film has done quite well.
"Shahid and I have been accepted as a pair. We will now be seen in Priyan's (Priyadarshan) 'Chup Chup Ke'. I really don't think life can get any better... or may be it can."
Kareena returns on June 14 to join the unit of Farhan Akhtar's "Don" in Malaysia.
"It's just a special appearance in 'Don'. But my song 'Yeh mera dil pyar ka deewana' rocks. I know there will be comparison with the original (Helen in Chandra Barot's 'Don'). But all comparisons will be forgotten once people see what I have done."
