Shah Rukh will do anything
for friends
By Subhash K. Jha,
Mumbai, Shah Rukh's generosity of spirit does not only

(KBC). He knows how to repay old debts. Producer Viveik
Vaswani found that out recently when he approached the
Khan to make a guest appearance in his new production "Dulha
Mil Gaya". Not only did SRK readily agree to make an
appearance in the comedy, he has also agreed to let his
role be extended to more than double what it was meant

done for a friend. Recently he made fleeting appearances
in "Silsilay", "Kuch Meetha Ho Jaye" and "I See You".
"These were for friends. And although I don't like
making cameo appearances I can't say no to a friend if
he asks me to be in his film," Shah Rukh told IANS. "Viveik
is someone I've known from the time I came to Mumbai.
And yes, he requires more of my dates for his film. So
why not?" he reasoned.

Is Shah Rukh avoiding IIFA awards function?
By Subhash K. Jha,
Mumbai, June 13 The dates for the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards 2006 were announced months ago. Yet, Shah Rukh Khan has gone on "holiday" to London with his family, seemingly to avoid the function.
Shah Rukh isn't attending the function starting Wednesday. "And that's because he's on holiday with his wife and two kids in London after working non-stop on 'Don' with Farhan Akhtar in Malaysia for three months. This was a holiday he had promised his family months ago, and they had been looking forward to it," a close friend of Karan Johar and Shah Rukh told IANS.
Even Aishwarya Rai won't be able to make it to Dubai, but Abhishek Bachchan will manage to somehow squeeze in a quick trip and come back to Chennai to join the crew of Mani Rathnam's "Guru".
"I have to be there. I am nominated and dad is the ambassador for the event," Abhishek told IANS.
But it's impossible for Aishwarya and the rest of the "Guru" team in Chennai to get away.
However, Johar is sure to attend the IIFA. Says a close friend: "Karan is on the advisory board of the IIFA awards. There was never any question of his not attending the awards. He's left for London on Thursday in connection with the promotion of the music of 'Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna'. From there he proceeds to Dubai for IIFA."
Sanjay Dutt will also have to give the event a miss, as he isn't permitted into Dubai due to some legal problems. However, efforts were made to arrange a special permit for him so that he could accompany his pal and business associate Sanjay Gupta for the launch of forthcoming films of their production company White Feather.
"Unfortunately, Sanju can't accompany us. But we'll all be there and we expect our launch to be spectacular," said Gupta.
Jagmohan Mundhra, who flies down from London for the event in Dubai, will be premiering "Provoked" at IIFA on June 14.
When S African prankster killed off Shah Rukh Khan!
By Fakir Hassen
Johannesburg, May 23 A South African prankster falsely reported the death of top actor
Shah Rukh Khan in an accident because he could not spell the first name of his original choice, Hrithik Roshan.
Call centre worker Aman Singh was marched off the premises a day before his earlier resignation became effective after investigations revealed his computer as the source of an e-mail claiming that
Shah Rukh had died in an accident.
Singh copied and pasted the masthead of a leading South African news website, news24.com, to make his message look authentic. Although it was crudely designed, it conned hundreds of fans who hurriedly passed on the message to others.
In the e-mail, Singh claimed that Shah Rukh had been killed in a road accident when his car hit a tree, and that this had been confirmed by the actor's manager.
The e-mail sparked frantic calls to media here and even to India, where Shah Rukh was busy filming for his next film, "Don". News24.com quickly traced the source of the e-mail to Aman Singh after the website was inundated with queries about the story.
Singh tendered apologies after both his employer and news24.com called for strong action, saying that he had merely intended the story as a prank to be played on his cousins, who are ardent fans of both Hrithik Roshan and Shah Rukh Khan.
The prankster said he had never expected the e-mail to be spread so widely, and was shocked himself to learn of the chaos he had created.
Fans here were furious at Singh's prank.
"It was the sickest thing to do. How would he feel if someone spread news like that to his family and friends - that he had died while he was still very much alive?" said Fatima Laher, admitting that she had burst into tears when her friend Resham Dhorat sent her the e-mail at her workplace.
"I sent it to at least twenty of my friends and family who, like me, are diehard Shah Rukh fans," Dhorat told IANS.
"This man is mad to do a thing like this."
'Kal Ho Naa Ho' making waves in Warsaw
By Surender Bhutani,
Warsaw, May 9 The Shah Rukh Khan - Karan Johar combo is again making waves in Poland. After reaping rich dividends with "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham" last year, it is now "Kal Ho Naa Ho" that is raking in money at the Polish box office.
The film, starring Shah Rukh, Saif Ali Khan and Preity Zinta, is being shown in three cinema halls simultaneously with Polish subtitles. And Gutek Films, which premiered the film Friday, is overwhelmed with the public response.
"Things are moving beyond our expectations. Now every week we will take this film to a new town so that the Polish people can taste Bollywood masala," a representative of the Gutek films told IANS.
People in the Polish capital, particularly the young, are hugely enjoying the music of the film, which features foot-tapping numbers like "It's The Time To Disco" and "Mahi Ve".
Commenting upon the film's performance, Indian Ambassador Anil Wadhwa said: "The draw of
Shah Rukh Khan is fantastic and people are now well versed with his CV. Very soon, his other films like 'Veer-Zaara' will be shown in Polish cities.
"Bollywood is no longer a strange word for the Polish people. In this globalised world, Indian films finally are searching new territories and luckily they have found a sound market like Poland," he added.
"My son Chris, who earlier used to watch Hindi movies on video, now takes his Polish friends to the movie hall," said Anna Bem, who is married to an Indian professor.
Gaberilla Krzyzowska, an Indophile whose husband is the president of Polish-Indian Cultural Committee, agreed: "We are very happy that Indian movies are being popularised in Poland."
