Venezuelan expedition team arrives in Chennai
Indo-Asian News Service
Chennai, Oct 25 (IANS) A four-member Venezuelan team driving through India, led by former diplomat Tony Velasquez, arrived here Tuesday.
The team has covered 50,000 km in 60 days across India, Nepal, Tibet and Bhutan in a fully equipped Hummer H1 car.
They filmed their Himalayan trip and it would be screened in Latin America, Velasquez told reporters.
"For us, the most important part of India has been the people," he said.
"People in the borders live together, eat and work together. For them, it seems there are no borders."
"We learnt many lessons. We learnt how you respect other religions. We go back full of happiness," Velasquez said.
The visitors said they found the palaces of Rajasthan, especially Jaisalmer, stunning.
The team has undertaken similar filming expeditions in Alaska, the Amazon basin, Columbia and sub-Saharan Africa since 1997.
The team, which left Venezuela Sept 13, includes Angel Bajares, a photographer, and Pedro Castro Amare, a journalist.
