'Chup Chup Ke' to be rollicking affair
Indo-Asian News Service

New Delhi, June 7 (IANS) Director Priyadarshan, who has given his fans innumerable rip-roaring dramas, is ready with yet another rib-tickling love story "Chup Chup Ke" that releases Friday.

Starring Kareena Kapoor, Shahid Kapur and Sushma Reddy, "Chup Chup Ke" is a triangular love story focusing on a debt-stricken young man sandwiched between two girls.

The film is about Jeetu (Shahid), an unlucky but good-hearted young man, playing numerous tricks to put his life on the right track. His father, a respectable retired schoolteacher, and his fiancée Pooja (Sushma Reddy) suffer the consequences of his instable nature and debts.

He fakes his own death to escape his creditors and thereby free his family from constant disgrace, but the move goes in vain.

Jeetu tries to end his problems, this time by jumping into the sea. But fishermen Bandya (Paresh Rawal) and Gundya (Rajpal Yadav) save him, and take him to their home. The new surroundings force him to pose as a mute.

His life takes another twist when he falls in love with Shruti (Kareena). Jeetu lands from one scrape into another in this ensemble romantic comedy of errors and mistaken identities.

Though the film is ready to hit the screen, trade pundits say the inadequate publicity of the film may mar its performance in the box office.

Priyadarshan could not participate in any of the promotional campaigns of the film, as he was undergoing treatment for his sinuses in an Ayurvedic centre in Kerala. Even Suniel Shetty refused to be a part of the promotional team because he was not given prominent place in the posters.

However, "Chup Chup Ke" is likely to lure audience because of the Shahid-Kareena pairing, which was appreciated in recently released "36 China Town".

'Chup Chup Ke' - playground for its stars

Mumbai, June 2 (IANS) What with cricket, word games and carom, the cast and crew of "Chup Chup Ke" seems to have had a blast while shooting the film.

For instance, Anupam Kher, an expert at a word-building game, had the cast addicted to it as he taught them how to improve their skills. Needless to add, Anupam won nearly all the games himself, reports Bollywood Trade.

That was only one of the many games on the sets, carom being the other, with Shahid Kapur leading the pack.

Priyadarshan had accidentally hit Shahid with a cricket ball, leaving the actor's face swollen for several hours.

Let's hope all this fun and frolic translates into onscreen humour when the film releases worldwide on June 9.

Mumbai, Jan 14 (IANS) Bollywood's hottest couple Kareena Kapoor-Shahid Kapur have signed Priyadarshan's next comic-flick "Chup Chup Ke", described as a laugh riot about love and confusion.

It seems that Kareena and Shahid, working together in Boney Kapoor's "Milenge Milenge" and Subhash Ghai's "36 China Town", are busy bagging films from all top-notch banners, reports Bollywood Trade.

"Chup Chup Ke", produced by UTV Motion Pictures, also stars Om Puri, Paresh Rawal, Shakti Kapoor, Anupam Kher, Suniel Shetty, Neha Dhupia and the latest trump card for comedy - Rajpal Yadav.

It is slated for summer release.
