Talking about the sudden decision, Madhavan says: "It just wasn't working out. I had to constantly shuffle dates between the show and my films. Initially I thought it would require more time and then I would just be required to give six days a month. But it wasn't working out that way at all.
"Every month Sony would change the set-up, tweak the show here and there, and ask me to give 12-15 days. My film schedules were suffering. So I said no. Better to quit than to make my films suffer."
Madhavan has already shot the 35 episodes that he was obligated to according to his contract with Sony.
"It was a good experience," he says with more relief than regret. "But I don't think I'll be returning to television in a hurry."
