Dev Anand is sprightly at 80

Panaji, Nov 27 (IANS) The evergreen Dev Anand clearly knows no full stops.

Having inaugurated the 36th International Film Festival of India Thursday, the actor-producer-director chose to stay on in Goa for two additional days though he is busy providing finishing touches to his latest film "Mr. Prime Minister".

The film is set for release this month-end.

On Saturday night, Dev Anand, in his trademark black jacket, was in his elements at a party the Film and Television Producers Guild of India hosted at the Taj Aguada.

He mingled with the guests well into the night and regaled his fans with anecdotes from his life and times. He then joined a bunch of much younger men and women on the dance floor to swing to the beats of some peppy Goan music.

He isn't the 'one and only' for nothing.

'One day' wonders

IFFI 2005 has already had its share of 'one-day' wonders. Urmila Matondkar, who was on stage for the IFFI inauguration, performing dance numbers culled out from some of the biggest Hindi films made down the decades. She flew back to Mumbai the next day. Rimi Sen, here for a special screening of "Deewana Huye Paagal", did likewise.

Bipasha Basu, who served as the 'thaali' girl at the inaugural lamp lighting ceremony, was gone before you could say bye.

Sameera Reddy landed here Saturday for the screening of the Bengali-language Indian Panorama film "Kaalpurush". She left Sunday after addressing a press conference.

Sarika, who recently made a comeback in an already forgotten film "Kal - Yesterday and Tomorrow", is an exception. In Goa to represent Rahul Dholakia's "Parzania", she has been one of the more visible stars at IFFI this year.

Must say that she still is a sight for sore eyes.
