'Ek Ajnabee' premiere cancelled
By Manissha Despaande, Indo-Asian News Service
Mumbai, Dec 8 (IANS) Producers of "Ek Ajnabee", Bunty and Jassi Walia of G.S. Entertainment, have cancelled the premiere of the film following Amitabh Bachchan's recent surgery.

Walia had planned a star-studded premiere of the film for Thursday, reports Bollywood Trade. "There is no question of having a premiere when Mr. Bachchan is still recuperating in hospital, but we are glad that he is returning to normalcy.
"It has been a trying period for all of us over the past few days, especially director Apoorva Lakhia, who is very close to him. Thankfully, that phase is over," said Walia.
Walia had earlier organised a grand event in New York, attended by the who's who of Hollywood's celebrity circuit. Bachchan had specially taken time out from the schedule of Karan Johar's "Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna" being shot in New York to attend the show.

Vikram Bhatt defends Akshay Kumar
Akshay Kumar's newfound penchant for editing his films may have got him quite a few adversaries among his co-stars, but his directors don't seem to mind too much. Vikram Bhatt, for instance, has defended Akshay for the actor's decision to edit certain portions in the recently released "Deewane Huey Paagal".
"Akshay is definitely not the kind of person he is made out to be. He will be the last person to tamper with anyone's role in the film. Even in the case of this film, he did not touch any of Shahid's portions in the film. If Shahid's role looked brief in comparison that was the way it was defined from the beginning," Bollywood Trade quoted Bhatt as saying.
"He felt that the climax was being unduly stretched due to those portions and what he said made sense too," said Bhatt.
Bhatt has no regrets about the poor response to the film at the box-office.
"The film definitely deserved a better response but I have no regrets. It wasn't my script. I was merely making it for the producer and I made it the way he wanted me to," Bhatt stated.

I have no regrets about 'Home Delivery': Sujoy Ghosh
Director Sujoy Ghosh has no regrets about the disastrous response to "Home Delivery", but the biting criticism levelled against the film in sections of the media has disappointed him.
"I was keen on adopting a different style of story-telling when I planned the film. However, that should not be construed that I am apologetic about the film's failure. I believed in the film then and now. I will continue to do what I believe in," he said.
In his opinion, the humour in the film did not quite gel with the audiences, reports Bollywood Trade.
"I know everything about the film will now seem bad after it has lost the box-office battle just as much as everything about 'Jhankar Beats' seemed right.
"On second thoughts, I think it was the humour in 'Home Delivery' which did not go well with certain sections of the audiences though it wasn't wry either," he said.

Prakash Jha to start 'Rajniti'
Content with the encouraging response to his "Apaharan", producer-director Prakash Jha has now decided to go ahead with his next project, "Rajniti". The film will depict India's politics, past and present.
"The subject of the film has been very close to my heart and that's the film I wish to concentrate on next," Jha revealed.
With "Rajniti" he will continue the tradition of exploring social themes.
But he is working on other subjects as well, reports Bollywood Trade.
"There are a few other subjects that I am working on but somehow I keep getting drawn to films with a social relevance," he smiled.
He is excited about the response to "Apaharan" in his hometown Bihar, where the film is running to packed houses.
"The film has been released in 37 cinemas there and it has been drawing record crowds all over. I think the people there have connected very well to the film."
