Shwetha Ranjan, a reporter of Janmat channel, lodged the complaint at the Juhu police station alleging that the Congress MP snatched her tapes after giving him an interview at his office in Juhu.
The interview took place between 8 and 9.30 p.m. Thursday.
"He answered all my questions about the Bollywood-underworld nexus, about the tape featuring him alongside Dawood Ibrahim and his failure as a politician," the journalist told the media.
"But after the interview he started misbehaving. Despite my protest he took away my camera. Though he returned the camera, the tape of the interview is still with him," she said.
According to police officials, cases of assault and of issuing threats have been booked against Govinda.
The actor later called up the journalist and apologised to her, the police said.

Mumbai, Dec 23 (IANS) Actor-politician Govinda's brother was Friday booked for rioting after a mob led by him allegedly damaged the office of a television channel whose reporter had accused the star of assaulting her.
Police booked Kirti Ahuja, Govinda's elder brother, after a group of people led by him allegedly attacked the office of Janmat Television in Oshiwara in the western suburb of Andheri.
A reporter of the channel, Shwetha Ranjan, had filed a complaint with police against the star, charging him of assaulting her Thursday night at his office in Juhu. A case of manhandling was registered against Govinda after the complaint.
Along with Kirti, 10 others were also booked on charges of rioting and intimidation. However, no arrests were made, senior police officials said.
Kirti had reportedly gone to the channel's office Friday afternoon, where one of the people accompanying him pelted stones, police said.
