"Bollywood is very much on our agenda. We are visiting Mumbai on Friday with a delegation from the Irish film board to showcase our scenic country to Indian producers," Ahern told a news conference here.
"We have beautiful landscapes and seascapes to serve as interesting locales for Indian movies."
After his official engagements in Delhi over the next two days, Ahern will be in Mumbai Friday and Saturday to interact with leaders of the film industry and to invite its producers to visit Ireland.
"We have not only simplified our procedures, but are also offering tax incentives for film production units from India. We are working on improving tax reliefs to facilitate the engaging of Irish crews and production facilities by Indian producers," Ahern said.
Ireland's Arts and Culture Minister John O'Donoghue, who is accompanying Ahern, said a few Bollywood producers had partially shot their films in Ireland in the recent past.
"We are keen that Indian film producers explore Ireland as another destination since they have been filming in other European countries. We have some of the best settings in the countryside to form a perfect backdrop for Indian movies," O'Donoghue said.
Ahern Monday began a six-day trip to India with a huge delegation to strengthen bilateral trade links.
Representatives of the film and television industries from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland are part of his delegation and will seek to build contacts with the Indian film industry.
