Dressed in a cream formal suit with peach tie, Rahul walked on the tastefully designed purple and black stage and jointly unveiled the watches with Bhaskar Bhatt, managing director Titan Industries Limited, at Hyatt Hotel.
Priced between Rs.10,000 and Rs.30,000, the brand comes in three categories for men and women - Contemporary, Classic and Sport.
Rahul is one of the three brand ambassadors of Xylys, the other two being international supermodel Saira Mohan and tennis star Carlos Moya.
"I was offered many products like jeans, swimwear, mobiles but I refused them because I believe a fruitful partnership happens only when the individual is benefited by the product and the product by the individual. But when I was approached for Xylys, I knew I had something to give to this product," said Rahul.
He has been chosen to promote the sports brand because of his long association with rugby, which he says is a very violent game. In fact he will be going to Germany to play rugby in August-September.
"My first film 'English August' chose me, I play rugby because rugby chose me, similarly Xylys chose me," Rahul told IANS. He was joined by two models, Shivani Kapoor and Jesse Randhawa for the photo shoot.
Xylys underlines the power of one's attitude and Rahul Bose who is definitely a unique actor fit the bill perfectly.
This latest brand is created in collaboration with Swiss designer Laurent Rufenacht and Titan's very own design advisor Michael Foley, who were also present on the occasion along with Bijou Kurien, chief operating officer, Watches, Titan Industries Limited.
Taking a pot-shot at other Indian celebrities who have been endorsing European watches, Rahul said: "Xylys proves that Indian watches can be good looking too. Earlier we had good only looking brand ambassadors!"
Xylys will initially open outlets in Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Delhi. In the next phase it is planning to open up five more showrooms in five different cities.
