Sammir, Raima pairing again
By Subhash K. Jha, Indo-Asian News Service

Mumbai, June 19 (IANS) Seeing the chemistry between Sammir Dattani and Raima Sen in a song in espionage thriller, "Mukhbir", producer Sudhish Rambhotla has decided to cast the pair in his next film.

The comfort level of the two was palpable in the romantic song choreographed by Saroj Khan for Mani Shankar's film "Mukhbir".

"Raima and I have come together after six years. The first music video we shot together was 'Valentine's Day'. To this day we're remembered as the 'Valentine pair'. In fact, I'm still recognised as the boy from that music video more than 'Pyar Mein Twist'," said a smiling Sammir.

It's an ultra-romantic song composed by Ilayarja's son Karthik. Sammir and Raima look as if they were made for each other.

"It's true that I haven't been so comfortable with any of my leading ladies," confesses Sammir. "It could be because we started our careers together."

Says Raima: "I remember Sammir as an innocent boy who would constantly ask for glasses of milk between the takes. He has changed quite a lot, for the better."

Sammir says, "We were both so young and self-conscious when we did the video for Rajshri films. Choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant did her best to put us at ease. But I think both of us felt slightly awkward expressing romantic feelings. We're far more comfortable now.

"Rambhotla was observing us closely during the shooting of the song. And I think he liked what he saw. Even I like what I saw."

Says Rambhotla, "Since Sammir looks very young on camera, it's very difficult to find a leading lady for him. For 'Mukhbir' we had actually signed another girl. We had even paid her the signing amount. But then she looked older than the hero. Raima has the right mix of beauty, innocence and mischief to complement Sammir. I'm definitely going to sign them together for my second film."

How the achingly young pair was re-united is quite a story. Reveals Sammir: "The heroine in 'Mukhbir' has a brief role, almost a cameo. All it took was a phone call from me for Raima to agree."

Now that they will be doing a full-length film together, it will be interesting to see how strong the friendship, which started six years ago, grows.
