Record digital release for 'Sarhad Paar'
By Manissha Despaande, Indo-Asian News Service

Mumbai, Feb 25 (IANS) If everything goes according to plan, Nimbus Communications' "Sarhad Paar" starring Sanjay Dutt and Tabu will be the first major film to be released simultaneously in 500 theatres all over India through a huge digital network.

According to Vivek Vaswani, group advisor, Nimbus Motion Pictures, the release of the film has been postponed to May to facilitate a simultaneous digital release all over India, reports Bollywood Trade.

"We have specially chosen the month of May because we have information that there will be a base of at least 500 digital cinemas by that time. Currently there is a digital network of 160 cinemas all over the country.

"The digital release will not only cut down the print cost (estimated at Rs.200 per show) but will also ensure that the film is released simultaneously in 'B' and 'C' class centres on the same day," says Vaswani.

Nimbus is also looking at releasing all its films entirely through its own distribution network.

Bappi Lahiri inundated with singing offers

Bappi Lahiri is on cloud nine these days. The music director-singer has been flooded with congratulatory calls from producers ever since he recorded the song "Shola hai bijuriya, dil hai bijuriya, bombai nagariya" for "Taxi No 9211".

"They all liked the new zing in my voice. It is the first time that I sang for another music director and I am quite flattered with the response although the credit for the song's success goes mainly to music directors Vishal-Shekhar," says Lahiri.

He is particularly excited about the many offers that are coming to him for singing, but says he has no plans of taking on too many singing assignments, reports Bollywood Trade.

"I intend to render my voice only when the song holds an exceptional appeal in terms of its music composition and lyrics."

Bappi recently got Daler Mehendi and Adnan Sami to record his compositions for "Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron" and "Hot And Sour.
