It was fun to be back on
the ramp, says Tulip
Indo-Asian News Service
Mumbai, Sep 2 (IANS) Tulip Joshi, who started her career with a
dream debut in Yash Chopra's "Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai", scorched
the ramp at Nisha Jamval's fashion show - 'Phoenix India'.
"It was exciting. It's been ages since I walked the ramp. The
outfits too looked pretty. I loved every bit of it," said Tulip.
She walked the ramp with the likes of Sonali Rathod, Sangeeta
Jindal, Alosive Rize with her daughter Ishita Arun and Malika
Hani at Amara Fashion Store in Mumbai last week.
It was quite a bit of revelation for the audience because
recently Tulip was seen in a contrasting de-glam avatar in
Manisha Jha's critically acclaimed film "Matrubhoomi", which
focussed on female infanticide.
After a hard-hitting performance in "Matrubhoomi", Tulip is now
set for an image makeover with her glamorous role in "Hostel"
and "Shoonya" slated for a winter release.
"I am so excited to be doing commercial cinema again. Though I
am proud of 'Matrubhoomi' because it gave me an opportunity to
showcase my acting skills, it is mainstream films that I really
relish.

"I want to play roles that would suit my age.
'Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai' and 'Dil Maange More' were commercial
films and I had a blast shooting them."
Tulip prefers to do youth oriented roles.
"I'm quite young and have a long way to go. I am also excited
about my forthcoming films that will project a glamorous image,
which is my real life image. In fact, everyone teases me that I
am essentially a fashion child."
Very few know that the young actress is a fashionista in the
true sense of the word. Often she is spotted sporting designer
clothes and swears by Prada, Armani, La Perla, Versace and also
has a collection of over 300 pairs of designer tinted glasses
from Roberto Cavalli, Gucci, Dolce and Gabanna and Versace.
Her favourite Indian designer is Varun Behl, a three-time winner
at Milan whose forte is European line.
On the influence of fashion on Bollywood films she said: "The
look of Bollywood films has undergone a sea change thanks to
many designers. I would really love to do light-hearted campus
capers that appeal to youth.
"One of my forthcoming films deals with the issues of youth. I
am looking forward to doing commercial cinema again."
Those who have seen her latest photo-shoot swear by her hot and
sultry look.
A critic sums it up best: "Tulip looks luminous even when she is
chained to a post in a cowshed in 'Matrubhoomi'.".
