'Zindagi Rocks' makes an impact on buyers
By Manissha Despaande

Mumbai, May 29 (IANS) Director Tanuja Chandra says the new title of her forthcoming film "Zindagi Rocks", starring Sushmita Sen and Shiney Ahuja, is eliciting a good deal of curiosity about the film from various quarters.

"It has given the film a new identity, which is one of the reasons the producers have been receiving several queries about the film from buyers as well as eager audiences," said Chandra.

Originally titled "Rocking", the film was re-named for two reasons - to connect with the non-urban crowds and maintain the true spirit of the film and its protagonist, Sushmita, reports Bollywood Trade.

"The film tells the urban story of an impulsive, fun-loving and mad singer who goes through emotional upheavals when she is thrown against a reticent stranger," said Chandra.

"I personally loved 'Rocking' as a niche title but it somehow did not connect to the non-urban audiences. 'Zindagi Rocks' seems to be a more apt and universal."

The film is complete and is being lined up for an August release.

Jackie-Karan on driving spree

The drive in them takes them places! Literally in actors Jackie Shroff and Karan Kapur's case, who share a passion for cars and often seen speeding in a maroon Scorpio.

"Whenever, we are not shooting, we like to go on long drives in my maroon Scorpio," says Karan who is co-starring with Jackie in Poonam Sinha's "Mera Dil Leke Dekkho".

Jackie prefers to be in the driving seat and his zest to drive persists post shooting as well, reports Bollywood Trade.

"Jaggu dada (Jackie) is awesome at the steering wheel. When you are with him, the engine comes to life and has a mind of its own," adds Karan.

So, if you catch this maroon Scorpio whizzing past you with a happy duo at the wheel, you know it is Jackie and Karan on one of their buddy drives.

Kapil Sharma finds a mentor in Anupam Kher

Newcomer Kapil Sharma, who is working with Anupam kher in "An Actor Prepares", got the most important tip of his life from the veteran actor when he told him not to risk his life for a shot.

"It was my first shot and I had to jump from the second floor. There were safety harnesses, etc., but when I jumped, I fell and hurt my shoulder. There were also cuts and bruises."

"After the accident Anupam-ji told me, 'to be a hero, you don't need to do 'herogiri'. Be safe and that is what is of utmost importance'."

Since then Kapil, who plays his son in the film, has become a huge fan of Anupam and takes his advice in every thing, reports Bollywood Trade.

Shiney Ahuja now plays doctor
Indo-Asian News Service

Mumbai, June 6 (IANS) After playing a ruthless mobster in "Gangster - A Love Story", Shiney Ahuja will be seen as a reclusive and cynical doctor who falls in love with a musical genius, Sushmita Sen, in "Zindagi Rocks".

"It's a pure coincidence that the two films are releasing within a gap of four months. What attracted me to the film was the script, working with Tanuja Chandra and B.A.G Films Ltd," said Shiney whose performance in "Gangster" was his first commercial foray that received a lot of applause.

"Zindagi Rocks" is a love story set in urban times showcasing the life of two lovers.

"Shiney has a strong personality and is sure to make a mark in Bollywood. His performance in 'Zindagi Rocks' will surely establish him as an actor who is here to stay and grow in this competitive industry," said producer Anurradha Prasad.

Chandra, who is directing the film, is equally impressed with Shiney's work and said: "Shiney has done a great job on screen. His sensitive portrayal of Dr. Suraj Rihan is very different from the roles he has done so far."

Produced under the banner of B.A.G. Films Ltd, the film also has Moushumi Chatterjee, Kim Sharma, Seema Biswas and Ravi Gosain. Music is by Anu Malik.

Sunidhi's voice rocks in 'Zindagi Rocks'

Tanuja Chandra's "Zindagi Rocks" will have another rocking factor to it - Sunidhi Chauhan's voice, apart from the unique combination of Shiney Ahuja and Sushmita Sen.

Chandra and composer Anu Malik have roped in Sunidhi to sing for Sushmita, who plays a rock star in the movie. They chose the young singer because of her unique voice texture.

"Both of us unanimously felt that Sunidhi could be the ideal voice for Sushmita, which is why we chose her to render all the five songs in the film," said Chandra.

The special zing in Sunidhi's voice has worked wonders for the film's music and Chandra and Malik are totally pleased with the outcome.

"Sunidhi should have been an international pop star with her unique voice. I am sure my film will unravel another quality of her remarkable voice. Also, for the first time Malik has teamed up with Sunidhi for all the songs in any film," said Chandra.
