Actor-MP Dharmendra in hospital with chest pain
Indo-Asian News Service

Chandigarh, Dec 16 (IANS) Actor and MP Dharmendra was rushed to a super-speciality heart hospital at Mohali near here Friday night after he complained of chest pains.

Cardiologists at Fortis Hospital performed various tests on the actor, including an electro-cardio gram (ECG), hospital officials said.

Dharmendra was rushed to the hospital at 8.30 p.m. from the Taj Hotel where he was staying.

He was in the city for the shooting of his home production "Apne", which features Dharmendra with his two sons - Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol - for the first time.

Shooting for the film - which also stars Katrina Kaif in the female lead - was being held at locations in and around Chandigarh for the past four days.

Anti-Dharmendra campaign in Bikaner

Indo-Asian News Service

Bikaner (Rajasthan), Nov 27 (IANS) Irked by non-fulfilment of election promises by the actor-turned-politician Dharmendra, a students' body in his parliamentary constituency Bikaner has threatened to prevent screening of movies featuring him or his sons Sunny and Bobby Deol.

The Sanyukta Chhatra Sangarsh Samiti (SCSS) has alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP did not keep his promise to get the Bikaner university a grant of Rs.25 million.

"We would not allow any of his or his sons' films to be screened in Bikaner," Rajesh Singh, a student of a local college, told IANS.

"He has been repeatedly saying that he would arrange the grant for the university, but he has not made any efforts.

"Besides, he has failed to keep several other promises. That is why, we would not allow the screening of any film starring the Deols," an office-bearer of the student organisation said.

"Dharmendra is willing to jump to death for Basanti (in one of his hit films Sholay). But when it comes to the students and people of Bikaner, he turns deaf, despite the fact that we are the people who voted him to parliament," Kailash Sharma, another student said.

The organisation also passed a resolution saying it would not allow Dharmendra to enter Bikaner.

"We want our MP to visit us regularly. We don't want him to sit in Mumbai and do nothing for us," said D.R. Chaudhary, a local resident.
