MAAC animators win FICCI awards

Mumbai, March 27 (IANS) A team of young animators from Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics Ltd (MAAC), one of India's leading animation and visual effects training academies, has won two prestigious awards at the FICCI BAF Awards 2006 here.

MAAC bagged 'best student animation film - social welfare award' for "Takes You Higher?", which dealt with anti-smoking, and 'best visual effects in a motion picture award' for Ketan Mehta's "Mangal Pandey - The Rising", said an MAAC release.
Entries came from prestigious animation training institutes and universities across the globe including Vancouver Film Studio, Sheridan.
MAAC chief operating officer Naveen Gupta said: "We are proud of our methods and quality of education and services here at MAAC. We spend a great deal of time and effort on ensuring that the quality is maintained and the standards upheld and improved."
The FICCI Frames Awards is an annual recognition of the best from the world of animation, gaming, VFX and films from around the world and is an initiative by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).
This year saw more than 300 entries competing for the various awards out of which 123 were international entries.
