Newton-John hopes missing lover will be traced

New York, Oct 11 (DPA) Actress and singer Olivia Newton-John is still holding out hope that her boyfriend Patrick McDermott will be found alive since his mysterious disappearance in June after a fishing trip off California.
"I love him very much and this is very hard to go through," Newton-John, 57, said on Good Morning America Monday in her first televised interview about the disappearance.
"He has a young son so we still hold out hope that he will come back."
McDermott's belongings were discovered on board the fishing boat he took for his overnight trip and his car was found in a parking lot near the harbour.
McDermott, 48, is more than 30,000 dollars in debt and filed for bankruptcy in 2000. In April, his ex-wife Yvette Nipar took legal action for missing child support payments. The two have a 13-year-old son.
Newton-John and McDermott met in 1996 while filming a commercial and have been have been romantically linked ever since.
