Silverstone urges Oprah for aid
Indo-Asian News Service
New York, Feb 22 (IANS) Actress Alicia Silverstone is circulating a petition to be sent to Oprah Winfrey appealing for aid for animals.
According to newsweek.com, Silverstone is sending a notice to friends. It will then be sent to Winfrey urging her to do a segment on the animals abandoned during Katrina.
In an email, Silverstone said: "Since millions of people watch and are positively influenced by 'The Oprah Winfrey Show', let's urge Oprah to dedicate a show to the pet overpopulation crisis, informing her audience of the importance of spaying and neutering."
When asked why Silverstone didn't approach Winfrey herself and ask for help directly, an insider said: "I think it is because Silverstone thinks she is always going on about these things herself and maybe she thinks Oprah hearing about it from the general public - instead of her - will make Oprah realise how much people care about this."
