Bono, Geldof criticise Blair over G8 pledges
Indo-Asian News Service
New York July 1 (IANS) Musicians-turned-campaigners Bono and Bob Geldof have criticised the G8 countries in their failure to keep promises they made over debt aid to Africa.
According to imdb.com, Britain and other G8 countries had made pledges to help poor African nations but a new report says that the countries are making painfully slow progress.
The group called Debt, Aid, Trade and Africa, of which Bono and Geldof are members, urged British Prime Minister Tony Blair to increase the aid to Africa by nearly $425 million, if they are to meet the commitments they made at the G8 summit in Gleneagles, Scotland.
