Bono urges African leaders to check corruption
Indo-Asian News Service
London, May 22 (IANS) Bono, the lead singer of U2, has warned African leaders that they could lose the goodwill of rich nations if they didn't overcome corruption.
According to contactmusic.com, during a talk in Nigerian capital Abuja, Bono told finance ministers to cut out corruption before the rich nations lose patience.
He said: "There is a window of opportunity but it could close if things like the corruption issue are not tackled or the peer review mechanisms are not felt to be real.
"Any company that sees Africa as an economic opportunity, and we hope more of them do, has a social and moral responsibility to invest with integrity. Corruption is a problem in Africa but not just yours, it is ours."
