Brad Pitt envies Leonardo DiCaprio
London, Jan 25 Actor Brad Pitt is asking for more macho
roles because he is envious of Leonardo DiCaprio's recent
success.
DiCaprio has got a best actor Oscar nomination for his role in
"Blood Diamond" and his other film "The Departed" has been
nominated for best picture. So, Pitt is now keen to sign up more
masculine roles.
Contactmusic.com quoted him as saying: "I caught myself on the
phone the other day. DiCaprio has been playing some real strong
men these last few years and I found myself saying, 'I want to
play more of a man.' I got off the phone and I thought, 'No,
live like a man, and the movies will follow'."
Director Edward Zwick slams diamond campaign
London, Jan 25 Edward Zwick, the director of "Blood
Diamond", is slamming the Raise Your Right Hand campaign
to get celebrities to wear diamond-encrusted jewellery.
The campaign strives to fight the negative publicity,
which the Leonardo DiCaprio starrer "Blood Diamond" has
brought. It aims to promote the diamond industry during
the present awards season where celebrities are asked to
wear diamond jewellery, reports contactmusic.com.
Zwick said: "The cruel irony that the raising of one's
hand and the using of one's hand to vote was the prompt
for the Revolutionary United Front to chop off hands in
Sierra Leone.
"It's some remarkable indifference to that reality that
would somehow try to equate raising one's hand with a
diamond on it as a promotional counter-measure to the
effect of the film. I find that rather distasteful, I have
to say."

New York, Jan 25 Actress Jennifer Hudson recently
won an Oscar nomination for her role in "Dreamgirls", but
she was not the first choice for it.
Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx, who also stars in "Dreamgirls",
wanted Fantasia Barrino for the role. Both Barrino and
Hudson were "American Idol" stars. But Barrino doesn't
seem to be bitter, reports newsweek.com.
Barrino says: "Everyone wanted me for that role except the
director. But it wasn't for me. I tried really hard. But I
can't even be mad. That role was for Hudson.
"I feel like I was meant to win 'American Idol.' And I
feel like J (Jennifer Hudson) was meant to play the Effie
role."

Sean Paul to campaign against violence in Jamaica
London, Jan 25 Reggae star Sean Paul is planning to
launch a solo campaign to stop violence amongst youth in
Jamaica.
Paul is setting out to do this through his new album.
Unlike his previous albums, the new one will focus on
issues that deal with his country, reports
contactmusic.com.
He says: "The content is just a little different than what
people expect from me. It's not about partying, it's not
about ladies; it's about the kids with the guns in the
streets. It's more reality.
"I'm talking about the younger generation that has no
other option for success than to find a gun somewhere. I
try to appeal to them: 'I know you a sufferer, but it
doesn't mean that you can't or shouldn't expect any
better.' It's a lot different than from what I usually
say, like, 'Get busy, shake that thing'."
Paul is dedicating his new album to two friends who have
been killed in youth related violence.
He adds: "I saw potential in these two kids and many
others. It really hit home. And I'm thinking of a voice, I
need to say something to people."

O'Toole defends old age lust
London, Jan 25 Acting legend Peter O'Toole is
coming to the defence of old men who lust for younger
partners, saying that age should not be a barrier for
love.

thespian who falls for a woman 50 years younger. The movie
has raised quite a few eyebrows but the actor maintains
there is nothing shameful in that, reports
contactmusic.com.
He said: "In New York a woman on a chat show asked if I
could imagine myself with a 20-year-old girl. I said, 'I
hope I could do more than imagine.'

couples. It's sad and ridiculous. Let people get on with
it."

London, Jan 25 Singer-actress Beyonce Knowles is
all praise for Shakira and says she is the perfect person
to join her in the female empowerment duet "Beautiful

is proud of the lyrics, about women coming together to
reject the advances of a dishonest lover.
Contactmusic.com quoted her as saying: "I've always loved
her and I've always wanted to work with her and the song
fits perfectly.
"It basically talks about two women - the same guy is
trying to get at both of them but instead of them
fighting, they're saying, 'He's a beautiful liar, let's
not fight, let's stick together. Forget him!' I think it's
a great concept." |

Serena Williams avoids positive press
London, Jan 24 Tennis star Serena Williams avoids
reading media's match reports because she fears that
positive press will make her "big headed".
Williams doesn't want to read stories that praise her
because it might make her cocky, reports contactmusic.com.
She says: "I don't read anything. One time, I think it was
'99, I read this article. It was really good and I was
like, 'Oh yeah! I'm the bomb.'
"I just got too headstrong. I don't want to be like some
of those celebrities walking around, just so full of
themselves. I always want to be down to earth, want to be
a person like when you meet them, they're the same person
that you think of them in the article or something.
"When my career is over, I've been saving a lot of
articles, I'll go back and read them. I don't want to be
big headed (so) I can barely get through the door."

wife's death in James C. Strouse's directorial debut
"Grace is Gone". The role has moved him and he can now
sympathise with the families who have lost their loved
ones in the war.
Imdb.com quoted him as saying: "I thought it was the most
brazen, cowardly, egregious political act I'd seen in my
lifetime. Do you think that's going to stop anything? Do
you think if you don't show the coffins we won't find
out?"
The director adds: "I hope it's the type of story that
holds up five or 10 years from now, but I hope that it
does sort of hit a nerve." |

Campbell had no idea she would receive the honour when she
was in Brazil recently, reports contactmusic.com.
She said: "I didn't know I was going to be made an

Beckhams make US debut at Madame Tussauds
Xinhua
Washington, Jan 24 (Xinhua) Americans got a closer look at
the Los Angeles-bound celebrity couple David and Victoria
Beckham, whose wax statues were unveiled at the Madame
Tussauds museum in New York.
The museum put on display Tuesday figures of the soccer
idol and his wife, a former member of music group Spice
Girls, dressed for the red carpet. They were draped in an
American flag and greeted by US President George W. Bush
holding a sign saying "Welcome to America".
The couple will move to the US in August when Beckham
begins a five-year contract with the Los Angeles Galaxy
soccer team in a deal worth $250 million.
Figures of the couple, dubbed by the museum as the "Brad
and Angelina of England", were loaned by the museum's
London counterpart for two weeks and will be displayed in
an "Opening Night" party scene featuring celebrities in
evening wear.
But some visitors at the museum had trouble identifying
the pair. The museum's general manager Janine DiGioacchino
said the American public was ready to learn more about the
couple.
