Fox saved character from being killed off
Indo-Asian News Service
London, June 20 (IANS) Matthew Fox, star of the hit TV show "Lost", impressed producers of the programme so much during his audition that they decided not to kill off his character as originally planned.
According to contactmusic.com, the producers were going to kill off the character at the beginning of the show but changed their mind after meeting Fox.
Fox says: "I never meet with a producer without reading a script first. I am a script-driven guy. But my agent called and said J.J. Abrams was doing a new series, that there was no script and that he thought I should go."
Fox had shown up at the audition to read for the part of shady conman Sawyer, but producers realised he was perfect for another role.
He adds: "After I read that, J.J. said, 'That is great, but we think you are Jack.' I said, 'OK, who is Jack?'"
