Gwen Stefani sues US clothing chain
New York, July 18 Singer Gwen Stefani is suing a US retail chain
alleging that its designers have copied her heart trademarks
from her Harajuku and L.A.M.B. clothing lines and used them in
their outfits.
She said Forever 21 bosses were engaged in "acts of trademark
infringement". Stefani is seeking to stop the company from
showcasing clothes based on her own designs, contactmusic.com
reported.
Radcliffe delighted to meet his favourite rock band
London, July 18 "Harry Potter" star Daniel Radcliffe was
ecstatic when his favourite rock music band Art Brut joined him
at a late-night US chat show.
Radcliffe said he had loved Art Brut from the time he saw them
performing at England's Reading Festival a couple of years ago,
PitchforkMedia.com reported.
The group's publicist Karen Ruttner said: "Just as we were
sitting in the green room talking about how much we wanted to
meet Harry Potter, some guy comes in and goes, `Hey, Daniel
Radcliffe wants to come in and meet you guys.'
"He's a big fan. Made 'em sign a copy of their CD and, after the
photo, was like, 'Wow, I finally feel like I'm in a band'."
Lindsay Lohan wearing alcohol-measuring tag
New York, July 18 Troubled actress Lindsay Lohan, who has
been in and out of rehab as she struggles to recover from
alcohol and drug abuse, has been spotted with an electronic tag
that warns her if she is drinking too much.
The 21-year-old "Mean Girls" star is wearing an eight-ounce
anklet, which measures the alcohol content in the wearer's sweat
and relays information to a monitoring centre, contactmusic.com
reported.
The actress's publicist, Leslie Sloane, said: "She has
transitioned to an intensive outpatient programme, which
includes attendance at daily Alcoholics Anonymous meetings,
outpatient therapy and daily testing.
"So there are no questions about her sobriety if she chooses to
go dancing or dining in a place where alcohol is served."
Spice Girl star ready to remarry
London, July 18 Spice Girls star Melanie Brown is planning to
marry boyfriend Stephen Belafonte.
Brown, who has been dating the film producer since she split
from funny man Eddie Murphy last year, said she was ready to wed
for a second time.
"He's the love of my life and I am going to marry him,"
contactmusic.com quoted her as saying.
She added that Belafonte has accepted her three-month-old
daughter Angel Iris as his own child.
She said: "Stephen's been a godsend. Eddie hasn't been in touch
once since I had the baby, it's unbelievable. But Stephen has
been a tower of strength."
Eva Longoria back to work after fantasy wedding
New York, July 18 Eva Longoria has returned to the sets of
the popular television show "Desperate Housewives", 11 days
after her wedding with French basketball player Tony Parker.
"It was a great wedding, but it was time to come home," Eva's
spokesperson Liza Anderson was quoted as saying by Hollywood.com
website. "I got a call from her this morning (and) she was
already at work. She sounded so great, really upbeat. She's
completely content."
"It was just her and Tony. They had a private villa. She's
completely relaxed and rejuvenated. She had a full week alone
with Tony to decompress. It was the perfect balance to gear up
for season four. So she's really excited. She wasn't dreading
work at all."
When Holly Hunter got drunk on stage
London, July 19 Actress Holly Hunter was left
embarrassed when she got drunk onstage in London because prop
masters forgot to substitute a bottle of champagne with a
non-alcoholic decoy.
Hunter was appearing in the play "By The Bog Of Cats" when the
incident occurred, contactmusic.com reported.
She says: "I was doing the play and the night before a play at
the same theatre had had their opening night. I had a scene
where I had to drink a bottle of champagne
onstage. Me and this other character had to open a bottle of
champagne onstage and devour the contents before the end of the
scene.
"The prop people - I don't know if it was intentional - they got
the bottles mixed up. So when I opened the bottle onstage, I
knew immediately from the cork that it was real
and that I was going to have to drink it."
She added: "I was slugging from the bottle. The pressure was
tremendous, I could barely speak after I took a slug. I was
pretty wrecked. I had to play the rest of the act
drunk, which was appropriate. But then act three came up, and I
was backstage and they were stuffing sandwiches down me."
Steve Tyler's vocal cords - up, close and personal
New York, July 19 Fans of the iconic rock band Aerosmith
will get a chance to see singer Steven Tyler's famous vocal
cords in a new television documentary.
Tyler's throat surgery will feature in an upcoming medical
special, "Incredible Human Machine" on the National Geographic
Channel, contactmusic.com reported.
The rocker's doctors have also been interviewed about the 2006
operation to save the lead singer's voice.
Douglas happy people will see Catherine's softer side
New York, July 19 Veteran Hollywood actor Michael Douglas
is delighted that his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones has taken up a
role in the romantic comedy flick "No Reservations", as he feels
people will get to see her softer side.
The silver screen beauty has played roles of a level-headed
tough woman in movies like "Traffic", "Ocean's Twelve" and "The
Mask Of Zorro", and Douglas was unhappy that
people would never really get a chance to see the real side of
Catherine, contactmusic.com reported.
"No Reservations" director Scott Hicks says: "Michael told me,
'I'm so happy you're doing this film. You'll help show people
what a lovely person Catherine is.' Often her
characters have a tougher edge to them, and people mistake that
for her, and it's quite wrong."
Mischa Barton is not a party girl
London, July 19 "The OC" actress Mischa Barton says she
has quit partying because she was fed up with "two-faced" local
girls.
She adds that she is "low-key" and only has a few close friends
with whom she goes out, reports Elle magazine.
She says: "(The tabloid persona) - it is a persona. It's not me.
I think, 'Who the hell is that girl?' I'm so low-key and
chilled.
"But the media has created a fake 'young Hollywood' where
everyone hangs out together and everybody knows each other. It
couldn't be further from the truth. I feel so, so
different from those girls."

Mystery and history as Simpsons Movie comes to big screen
DPA
Los Angeles, July 20 The previously anonymous town of
Springfield, Vermont, will for a few hours Saturday night become
the centre of the entertainment universe when its tiny 100-seat
movie house plays host to the first public screening of The
Simpsons Movie.
Yes, it's finally happening. After 18 years as the
universally-recognized best thing ever to happen to television
cartoons, the irreverent, ground-breaking multi-faceted show
that manages to appeal as much to morons as it does to
intellectuals is coming to the big screen.
As to what fans of Bart, Homer, Lisa, Marge and the other heroes
of the Simpsons universe can expect, the answer is not that
simple.
Sure there'll be laughs and buffoonery galore, as one would
expect from the longest running sitcom of all time. But exactly
how the fabled Simpson story team is going to handle the
transition from the living room to the cinema remains a secret
as closely guarded as the final chapter of the last Harry Potter
book.
Producers have even proactively seeded Internet chat groups with
false rumours just to make sure no one knows what's going to
happen.
But executive producer and writer Al Jean has let a few details
slip, confirming to Premiere magazine that that the hapless
Homer accidentally pollutes the water of
Springfield, forcing the residents to evacuate.
Marge is outraged and Springfield's quirky residents are ready
to lynch him. Animation magazine reported that the mishap
quickly escalates into a global crisis that draws the attention
of Arnold Schwarzenegger, who comes up with a dubious plan to
contain the mess.
As the fates of Springfield and the world hang in the balance,
Homer embarks on a personal odyssey of redemption in order to
reunite his splintered family and save the planet.
"The only thing I can tell you is we've seen Homer dumping a
silo of pollution into the lake, we've seen a mob about to kill
the people in town, and we've seen Homer whipping dogs in a
frozen wilderness," Jean told Premiere. Apart from that it's
anyone's guess.
He did reveal that the movie would stand on its own - not
requiring people to have ever seen a single minute of a Simpsons
episode in order to understand what's going on. The movie will
also introduce several new characters who if successful will
continue on the Simpson's record-breaking 19th season.
The movie also follows the show's long tradition of including
celebrity voices among its kooky cast, among them the Red Hot
Chilli Peppers and U2. Minnie Driver, Albert Brooks, Tre Cool
and Erin Brockovich-Ellis all lend their voices to this big
screen extravaganza.
With the millions of loyal fans accumulated over almost two
decades, The Simpsons Movie is as close to a sure-fire hit as
can be imagined. But just in case someone, somewhere, had never
heard of the strange yellow-skinned creatures, a bout of
brilliant publicity has drummed up new recognition and
controversy.
Among the best schemes is a programme in which convenience
stores around the US have been remodeled into replicas of the
Kwik E. Mart that is featured prominently in many episodes. The
fake stores even figure huge cutout models of the fictional
Indian proprietor Apu, sparking controversy about whether The
Simpson's take on the store is
racist.
In another daring prank, the Simpsons publicity team
commissioned an artist to draw a massive rendering of a donut
wielding Homer, dressed only in his underpants. The vision was
placed in Britain next to the Cerne Abbas Giant, a pagan-revered
fertility symbol. Bart would surely approve.
