Jade effect leaves other 'Goody' people seething
By Prasun Sonwalkar,
London, April 3 Jade Goody continues to be a public and
marketing pariah weeks after the racism row on "Celebrity Big
Brother" - she has not received a single offer
of work since, and people with similar sounding names are
embarrassed.
Goody came in for considerable public criticism for her remarks
about Indian actress Shilpa Shetty on the reality show. She has
since visited India and apologised for the
comments that made her come across as a racist bully.
Her name has had an adverse fallout on others too. Bristol-based
driver Jay Goodfield was proud of his private car registration
plate that read J600DYY. It was a plate that he
had bought for 250 pounds in 2004, but now wants to get rid of
it.
Goodfield, 20, is known as Goody to his mates but when Jade
became a public hate figure on "Celebrity Big Brother", he says
his life has turned miserable by angry drivers
mistaking him for the shamed personality.
Until the racism row on television, he says he used to be
flattered by the attention he got from star-struck onlookers. He
would find people taking pictures by his black Audi
TT and was even followed down the motorway by clueless fans.
But after the racism row, passers-by have hurled abuse, drivers
keep cutting him up and Jay fears his car could soon be
vandalised. He now wants to get rid of the
registration plate.
He told the Western Daily Press: "I couldn't believe my luck
when I first saw the plate for sale and it looked like a
bargain. But now it's turned into a nightmare. I used to get
girls following my car thinking I was her boyfriend.
"Sometimes I'd play along with it, put my hood up and wear some
sunglasses and it would be a good laugh. Now everyone thinks I'm
some kind of racist. People swear at
me, give me dirty looks and I've even been threatened by gangs
of kids.
"I can look after myself but I just don't need the hassle
anymore. It was great when I first got it and before Jade became
famous, everyone recognised my car. But enough is
enough."
Meanwhile, Jade Goody's agent Katherine Lister admitted that she
has not found any work after the racism row broke out on
television. Lister said: "Jade's had very, very few
offers of work. She's had the odd thing, but they were things it
wouldn't be feasible to do."
Jade, 25, has been axed by Living TV, which paid her 150,000
pounds a year for her series "Jade's PA" and "Just Jade". Her
perfume Shhh, which was expected to earn her
75,000 pounds, has been withdrawn.
Publisher Harper Collins has also scrapped plans to release
"Jade: My Autobiography" in paperback.
Storage ads make fun of Paris Hilton
New York, April 3 Socialite heiress Paris
Hilton is being criticised in Manhattan Mini Storage
advertisements, which show a dog looking a lot like her
with the slogan:
"Your closet's so shallow, it makes Paris look deep."
When this was brought to the notice of Hilton's publicist
Elliot Mintz he alerted her lawyer Howard Weitzman,
reports pagesix.com. The lawyer then wrote a
"cease-and-desist" letter to the storage company.
The storage company is facing criticism from the
Republican Party for other such ads as, "Your closet's
scarier than Bush's agenda."

Kate Moss losing clout
New York, April 3 Troubled supermodel Kate
Moss is losing her clout because of her hard partying
ways. For the first time in 10 years she will not be in
the FHM
magazine's list of the world's 100 sexiest women.
Ananova.com quoted Chris Bell, FHM executive editor, as
saying: "In the fashion world Moss is considered one of
the most beautiful women, but according to FHM readers
she's past it.
"Moss' alleged hard party lifestyle is starting to take
its toll and she's definitely starting to look a little
weathered. Her size zero look might be winning her million
dollar
fashion contracts, but the average guy on the street
prefers someone much more womanly."

Knowles, Jennifer Lopez and Mary J. Blige. He had been
working with Spears on five songs for a new album.

Lopez testing Victoria Beckham's jeans
London, April 3 Singer Jennifer Lopez is
testing Victoria Beckham's entire range of pants which the
former Spice girl wants to suit all girls, not just the
skinny ones.
Contactmusic.com quoted a source as saying: "Lopez thinks
Posh is incredibly stylish and has asked for some tips,
but they've got different body shapes and she was
concerned that things that look amazing on Posh wouldn't
suit her at all."
The source said Posh and Jennifer met at the Oscar and
were in close contact. Lopez gives her opinion on each
pair of jeans.
"She's calling Posh daily to tell her what she thinks. She
loves the quality and is chuffed that Victoria takes her
input so seriously," said the source.

doing
the check-in. I'm not really good at that," people.com
quoted her as saying. |

Cameron Diaz looking for Mr. Right
Los Angeles, April 3 Actress Cameron Diaz
fears she will be single for a long time after splitting
with Justin Timberlake, because she says "it's hard" to
find love as a
celebrity.
The pair ended their long-term relationship in January
this year and since then Diaz has been linked with a
number of eligible bachelors, including surfer Kelly
Slater, but she
insists she needs time to get over the breakup and needs
more time to find 'Mr. Right', reports www.hollywood.tv.
Diaz said: "I think it's hard out there. You don't fall in
love every day, or with every person you meet. It's
special. Our world is so complicated in that it does take
a lot to
make things work. But you can't be happy with someone else
until you're happy with yourself." |
