Bond producers want Naomi Watts
Indo-Asian News Service

London, Dec 30 (IANS) The producers of the James Bond film series, bowled over by the performance of Naomi Watts in "King Kong", want her as the lead opposite Daniel Craig in the next movie featuring the exploits of agent 007.

"Naomi Watts has sent James Bond bosses bananas, and they want her in the new 007 film," the Sun tabloid reported.

Naomi, 37, has received a phone call from the Eon Productions, which makes the Bond series, inviting her to play the vixen Vesper Lynd in the new film "Casino Royale".

They want her to do a screen test soon.

But her pals fear Naomi will turn down the role because of the "curse of the Bond Girl" suffered by Halle Berry - who has had no major hits since starring opposite Pierce Brosnan in "Die Another Day" in 2002.

"People are worried about being typecast," a source said.

Angelina Jolie and Charlize Theron have also reportedly rejected the role.

Washington, Dec 30 (DPA) Mariah Carey's "Mimi" CD crept ahead of 50 Cent's "The Massacre" as the best selling album of the year 2005, reports said.

Carey has suffered a series of setbacks in recent times, including the "Glitter" flop and the $30 million buy-out of her record contract. She would be the first female to hold the top selling album mark since Alanis Morisette in 1996.

Former "American Idol" winner Kelly Clarkson was headed for third place for "Breakaway", which sold 3.4 million copies, MTV reported.

He told me that for the 27 years he was in prison he got so much pleasure out of the one movie they sent every six months that made him laugh and helped him escape for a few hours from the hopelessness.

"That really inspired me to know that what I was doing in those other movies was not a bad thing."
