Cheadle worked with real gang leaders in 'Colors'
Indo-Asian News Service
London, May 23 (IANS) Movie star Don Cheadle had to work with some questionable characters in his breakthrough film "Colors".
According to contactmusic.com, real life criminals were forced to join the cast by police. Cheadle, who played the character Rocket opposite Sean Penn and Robert Duval, is still amazed at the way real gang leaders were cast in the movie.
He said: "It was kinda dirty actually, the way that they got them into the movie because the cops just picked up the guy... and they said, 'You have got some warrants outstanding and we can either throw you in jail of you can do this movie.'
"That's a casting couch right there. So he had to go and get all his homies (friends) to do the movie, which really cut into his drug dealing, so he was not cool with that."
