Singer Diddy becomes father of twins

New York, Dec 22 (DPA) Rap star P Diddy, who was earlier called
Puff Daddy, has become a father of twins.
His girlfriend, Kim Porter, gave birth to twin girls Thursday at
a Manhattan hospital, with the hip-hop impresario flying in from
Canada for the birth, said spokesperson Robert Zimmerman.
"Diddy received an early Christmas gift," said Zimmerman. "Both
Kim and the girls are doing great."
Diddy, whose real name is Sean Combs, flew in from Toronto,
where he was filming "Raisin in the Sun', and made it "just in
the nick of time for the delivery", Zimmerman said.
Combs, 37, already has a son, Christian, with Porter. He's also
the father of a son, Justin, with ex-girlfriend Misa Hylton-Brim.
Queen guitarist wants Depp to play Mercury
London, Dec 22 Brian May, the guitarist of rock
band Queen, wants actor Johnny Depp to play the group's
late lead singer Freddie Mercury in an upcoming film.
Roger Taylor and John Deacon, the other members of the
band, are also involved in the project, which is a biopic
on Mercury who died of AIDS in 1991, reported
contactmusic.com.
May said: "Discussions are at an early stage. Johnny Depp
is fantastic. He would be a worthy counterpart for Freddie
on screen."

Cruz encourages lesbian rumours
New York, Dec 22 Spanish actress Penelope Cruz says rumours of her being lesbian don't die away because she
helps to keep them going.
Cruz and actress Salma Hayek became close friends seven
years back when Cruz moved to the US and their friendship
started off a lot of gossip. But the rumours spread when
Cruz groped Hayek's behind at a press conference while
they were promoting the movie "Banditas", said
newsweek.com.
Cruz said: "I grabbed Salma's ass just to keep things
moving, because everyone was a little slow. And of course,
the energy changed when I did that. There are magazine
covers in Mexico describing us as these lesbians because
of that. A lot of people were saying we were lovers."

London, Dec 22 Pop star Britney Spears is to
disclose the details of her failed marriage to Kevin Federline to Vanity Fair magazine.
Spears was supposedly very impressed with the interview
where Jennifer Aniston spoke about her split from Brad
Pitt and now wants to follow suit.
An informed source told contactmusic.com: "Britney has
agreed to make Vanity Fair her first big statement about
her new life. The interview will be very frank. She liked
how they handled Jennifer's first interview after her
divorce from Brad Pitt."

Mel's alleged love child sells story for $20,000
New York, Dec 22 An Australian woman claiming to be
Mel Gibson's love child has sold her story to a British
tabloid for $20,000.
Carmel Sloane claims her mother was picked up by Gibson
while she was hitchhiking in Australia in 1976 and was
conceived in the back of a car. Her mother and she have
been paid $20,000 for their story, reported imdb.com.
Sloane's ex-husband is angry that he was not warned about
the tale.
He said: "I was so upset and shocked..." When asked if he
had spoken to his ex-wife about the story, he said, "She's
denying the whole thing."
He added that the claims were "mentioned during our
relationship, but I always thought it was a crock".

Beyonce shocked over album rumours
London, Dec 22 Pop star Beyonce Knowles is shocked
that her song "Ring the Alarm" is speculated to be about
the link up between her boyfriend Jay-Z and singer Rihanna.
Media reports linked Jay-Z to Rihanna when she signed on
his record label. Beyonce told contactmusic.com: "The
rumours that 'Ring the Alarm' is about Jay - those things
don't bother me as much because they're so silly. It's
kind of obvious, like certain things are just obviously
not true. When things are not true, you just don't really
think about it."
She added: "When you're a new artist (like Rihanna),
people are curious. That just comes with being a beautiful
girl and a celebrity. People try to link you up with
everybody!"

Pink angers Australians
London, Dec 22 Singer Pink has angered Australian
ministers and farmers over her boycott of Australian wool.
Government officials are asking Pink to stick to music and
leave the farming to experts, reported contactmusic.com.
An angry farmer said: "You get somebody - and I'm not
referring to her (Pink) - buy you get people who spend
their time plaiting their armpits, smoking pot and
sniffing coke and become world experts."
Said Australia's treasurer: "Australia's farmers are doing
it tough. They are good people. I just don't think Pink
understands sheep to the extent that farmers do."

Johansson wants to remake 'Evita'
London, Dec 22 Actress Scarlett Johansson is keen
to do a planned remake of the musical "Evita", which
starred singing sensation Madonna.
Johansson became obsessed with the musical when she was a
teenager and wants to play Eva Peron. "I became fascinated
with 'Evita' as a teenager and I'd love to play that role,
but Madonna was awesome," she was quoted as saying by

Depp to hand over award to Oasis
London, Dec 23 Actor Johnny Depp has jumped at the
chance to hand over a special award to rock band Oasis.
Depp became friends with the band when he was dating
supermodel Kate Moss, who was friends with lead guitarist
Noel Gallagher's girlfriend. Depp will present the special
achievement award at next year Brit's, reported

An informed source said: "The awards are shaping up to be
bigger and better than ever. This year it's going back to

London, Dec 23 Actress Cameron Diaz has asked her
family to take her off their Christmas gift list since she
already has everything she needs.
But if she does get any gifts, she hopes they will be
useful. "Most of us are way past the point of needing

London, Dec 23 Pop star Britney Spears recently
visited a tattoo parlour with her 15-year old sister.
The pair made no efforts to shy away from cameras and
Spears was photographed with a small black star tattoo on
her right hand, said contactmusic.com. Her other tattoos
include a butterfly and a vine on her right foot, a pair
of pink dice on her left wrist, a sexy fairy on her lower
back and a Japanese symbol on her bikini line.
Her now estranged husband Kevin Federline has a matching
pair of blue dice tattooed on his right forearm.

Zellweger makes cultural mistake
London, Dec 23 Oscar winning actress Rene Zellweger
was shocked when she made a cultural faux pas by giving
her chauffeur in Jordan a hug.
Zellweger was working on the Children's Defence Fund last
year and attended a summit about women's health issues in
Jordan, reported contactmusic.com. Said Zellweger:
"Sometimes I make some cultural mistakes here and there. I
had this driver in Jordan ... he was lovely and was taking
care of me. He didn't speak any English. He safely
delivered me to the airport and he was just really nice,
so I threw my arms around him and I gave him a big Texas
thank-you hug.
"I stepped back and I looked at his face and he was
horrified, and I thought, 'You don't do that! You don't go

Rapper surprised by Jackson's partnership offer
London, Dec 23 Rapper Will.I.Am was pleasantly
surprised when he was asked to collaborate with pop
superstar Michael Jackson.
Will.I.Am thought someone was playing a prank on him when
he got a call from Jackson to work with him on his new
album. But he was soon convinced that it was Jackson
himself.

someone was joking. I heard, 'Hello, it's Michael', and I
was like, 'Yeah right, stop playing!'. Then he said, 'I

Moby calls for peace at Christmas
London, Dec 23 Techno superstar Moby is pleading
with fans to remember the real meaning of Christmas and
not get drawn to the unnecessary commercialisation of
the season.
Moby, on his website, called for peace and love among all

Thurman is a great mom, says Hawke
New York, Dec 24 Actor Ethan Hawke confesses he didn't
enjoy his marriage with actress Uma Thurman but admits
that his ex-wife has done a phenomenal job as a mother.
"To be honest it was an undue pressure on my marriage. I
didn't like being famous when I was single and what it did
to my celebrity status to be married to another famous
person was a huge pressure - I didn't enjoy it. And it had
nothing to do with her," People.com quoted Hawke as
saying.
But Hawke, who had two children with Thurman, enjoyed his
role as a father. He said: "It was the greatest pleasure
in my life. It's the only role that, if I fail, I will
consider my life a failure."

Driver wants to gift animals for Christmas
London, Dec 24 Actress Minnie Driver is asking close
family and friends to buy camels, sheep and goats as gifts
this Christmas to help refugees in Africa.
Driver is an ambassador for the charity group Oxfam, which
encourages people to help Africa's struggling population
and make do without expensive gifts, reports

Driver said: "You can buy a camel for people who live in
mostly sub-Saharan Africa. A camel is going to change
their life in terms of being able to transport them.
"They don't need a lot of water, so travelling refugees

romantic comedies because she is tired of playing dark
characters.

Another publicist leaves Spears
New York, Dec 25 Pop star Britney Spears'
publicist Sonia Muckle has left the singer to start her
own marketing company.
After parting ways with Leslie Sloane Zelnick in October,
Spears has been without a personal publicist and Muckle, a
publicist at Spears' label Jive Records, was temporarily
handling her recent press coverage.
Muckle is now moving on to start her own marketing and
promotions company. But she insists her departure has
nothing to do with Spears' recent antics, which include
spending numerous nights with Paris Hilton and being
photographed without underwear.
Hollywood.com quoted Muckle as saying: "I left of my own
accord. This has been in the works for several months."
Spears is heading back into the studio to record her new

Simpson wants her part edited out of Parton tribute
New York, Dec 25 Singer Jessica Simpson has
requested TV producer George Stevens Jr. to cut her part
of a tribute to Dolly Parton from an upcoming televised
show.
Simpson hogged the limelight earlier this month when she
forgot the words to Parton's song "9 to 5" during a taping
and grew flustered and fled the stage.
Stevens Jr. gave her a second chance to sing the song, but
she requested that the second attempt be edited out from
the show at the Kennedy Center honours, reported imdb.com.
Cindi Berger, Simpson's spokeswoman, says: "She really
wasn't happy with her performance and she did want it to
be perfect for Dolly, who she idolises."
Stevens Jr. adds: "We appreciate the time and energy Ms.
Simpson put into this event and respect the high standards
she has for herself and that of the Kennedy Center honours."
Besides Parton, the Washington DC tribute honours Sir

Smith's daughter to go for paternity tests
New York, Dec 25 Former model Anna Nicole
Smith will be forced to have her three-month-old daughter,
Dannie Lynn, undergo paternity tests after a Los Angeles
court ordered her to return to the city.
Smith's ex-boyfriend, photojournalist Larry Birkhead, is
challenging claims from Smith's partner and attorney
Howard K. Stern that he's the baby's father, reports
hollywood.com.
Birkhead's publicist released a statement reading: "Los
Angeles Superior Court has ruled today that Anna Nicole
Smith and three-month-old baby daughter Dannie Lynn are
ordered to submit to paternity testing."
Birkhead said: "Christmas has come early, and I thank god
that I will soon have the opportunity to prove that I am
the father... and eventually hold her in my arms."
Smith's attorney Ron Rale would not deny or confirm the
ruling.

'Lost' star Lilly's home gutted
New York, Dec 25 Golden Globe nominee
Evangeline Lilly lost all her belongings when her rented
flat in Hawaii was engulfed in flames.
When Lilly and boyfriend Dominic Monaghan returned to the
home recently, all they found were gutted remains.
Lilly shared the home with two female crewmembers. She was
shooting at the time of the fire and no one was injured in
the blaze, reports imdb.com.
The couple arrive at the scene after sunset and managed to
salvage a few personal items. Although it had been an
emotional day for Lilly, she managed to smile for
photographers who were at the scene.
Investigators have not yet determined the cause of the

De Niro wanted DiCaprio over Damon
New York, Dec 25 Actor-turned-director Robert
De Niro originally selected Leonardo DiCaprio to star in
"The Good Shepherd", but had to cast Matt Damon instead
after the former dropped out because of scheduling
conflicts.
De Niro was all set to begin filming and without wasting
much time decided to replace DiCaprio with Matt Damon in
the lead.
Hollywood.com quoted him as saying: "Leonardo DiCaprio was
originally going to do it, but he had schedule problems
and it got so complicated. I said I had to move on quickly
because I had all the machinery of the movie moving
forward."
This is only De Niro's second stint behind the camera and
he admits his directing style is heavily influenced by
good friend and colleague Martin Scorsese.
He adds: "I've done eight movies with Marty, so obviously
something has to rub off."

'Casino Royale' highest Bond grosser
London, Dec 26 "Casino Royale" has become the
highest earner of any James Bond movie.
Its box office collection exceeded the $300-million mark
in overseas ticket sales, becoming the fourth film of the
year to surpass that limit.
Starring Daniel Craig, the film earned an additional $14.5
million over the weekend, bringing its total foreign gross
to $304.4 million and thereby joining "Pirates of the
Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest", "The Da Vinci Code" and "Ice
Age: The Meltdown" as members of the $300-million club,

With its North American gross of about $144 million,
"Casino Royale" can claim a worldwide total of $448
million, making it the highest earner of any Bond movie.

Duff, Madden drop action against photographer
New York, Dec 26 Actress Hilary Duff and
ex-boyfriend Joel Madden have agreed to lift a restraining
order against photographer David Joseph Klein whose
roommate is accused of stalking the pair.
The development took place after Klein convinced them he
was not involved in the crime.
Duff and Madden acted against Klein and his former
roommate Maksim Miakovsky in October. Klein no longer
lives with Miakovsky, who was charged with threatening and
stalking Duff last month, reports imdb.com. He has denied
the allegation.
Duff's representative said: "Klein has been dismissed from
the case based upon his apologies for any
misunderstanding, his cooperation and his assurances that
he will not seek further contact with Duff and Madden."
Miakovsky is in prison and has pleaded not guilty to
stalking Duff.

Director Van Sant arrested for drunk driving
New York, Dec 26 Oscar nominated director Gus
Van Sant was arrested last week for drunk driving in
Portland, Oregon, and sent to jail by the police.
Police officers stopped the 54-year-old after seeing him
driving his Porsche Cayenne Sports Utility Vehicle down a
street with no headlights on and after he accelerated
sharply after stopping at a red light, reported
hollywood.com.
A police spokesman said: "He had glassy, watery, red eyes,
slurred speech, and smelled strongly of alcohol."
A breath test showed a blood-alcohol level of 0.19
percent, which is more than twice the state limit of 0.08
percent.
Van Sant was nominated for an Academy Award for 1997's
"Good Will Hunting" and has also directed "Drugstore
Cowboy" and "My Own Private Idaho".
