Routh worked at bowling alley waiting for big break
Indo-Asian News Service
New York, June 23 (IANS) "Superman Returns" star Brandon Routh worked as a bartender at a Hollywood bowling alley till he was cast for the iconic role.
According to contactmusic.com, "Superman Returns" was in development for over 11 years and was rumoured to have a number of actors attached at different times including Josh
Hartnett, Nicolas Cage and Ashton Kutcher.
However, when director Bryan Singer took over the project he decided to rope in an unknown actor for the role. It took him months to decide whether Routh was right for the part.
Routh says: "I spent many days in anguish behind the bar serving drinks. It was rough especially as celebrities and people came in. I kept thinking about accomplishing great things."
Routh kept his bartending job at Hollywood's Lucky Strike Lanes until he finally received the offer in writing.
