Bassey backs Winehouse for Bond song
London, June 24 Singer Dame Shirley Bassey has backed
British soul star Amy Winehouse to sing the next James Bond
theme tune.
Bassey has sung the title song for a record three James Bond
movies - "Goldfinger", "Diamonds Are Forever" and "Moonraker" -
and is urging the film bosses to hire Amy for the next
spy-franchise instalment.
"There aren't many female artists of her (Amy's) generation with
such an unusual sound. I can't think of anybody better to sing
the Bond theme tune," the 70-year-old was quoted as saying by
contactmusic.com.
Slimming product offer scares Hunter
London, June 24 Supermodel Rachel Hunter became paranoid about
her weight after she was asked to promote a slimming product.
The former wife of rocker Rod Stewart is the new face of the
diet shake SlimFast - but admits she had concerns when she was
first asked, according to contactmusic.com.
Hunter said: "I thought, 'Wow, what's wrong with me? Do I look
fat?"
Doherty publishes tell-all diary
London, June 24 Rocker Pete Doherty has lifted the lid off his
crazy world by publishing his diary.
"The Books Of Albion: The Collected Writings Of Peter Doherty"
was released earlier this week that charts the Babyshambles
frontman's life since he moved to London. It also includes
insights into his recent life with model Kate Moss and his drug
addiction battle, reports ananova.com.
"(there was) Further tabloid infamy yesterday just when I
thought everything was too good to be true," writes Pete. "Some
Australian ... has me on camera phone banging up and apparently
slagging Kate off. Bang to rights I suppose although to be fair
I was in a hell of a state at the time and we had fallen out."
There is also a surprise entry from Moss, who writes:
"You have touched my heart and soul... You make me high, my
sweet, my skin shivers and longs to be held by you."
Pamela Anderson to open strip club?
New York, June 24 "Baywatch" star Pamela Anderson, who is
currently in Finland, has thought of a unique business idea to
honour her Finnish heritage - opening a chain of strip clubs!
"I thought of a great way to celebrate my Finnish heritage at
home," she wrote on her blog. "I'm going to look into opening a
chain of strip clubs and I'll call them Lapland!!!"
Anderson, whose great grand father was Finnish, is touring the
Scandinavian country with her dad, Barry Anderson, reports
people.com.
"Our heritage is here. We are both excited. We will be taking
lots of saunas. Save my liver," Anderson added.
While in Finland, the actress has also appealed for the closure
of fur farms.
"(Farms are) so old fashioned. There are hundreds here. The
demand is getting lower for fur coats and they breed foxes here
just for fur. ... Sweden, Austria and England have banned fur
farms. Let's hope Finland will too. Other than that I'm very
proud of my Finnish heritage."
Beach wedding off Moore' wish list
London, June 24 Singer-cum-actress Mandy Moore has crossed out
the idea of a dream Caribbean wedding from her life's wish list
after shooting a mock marriage in the heat and sand of Jamaica.
The singer plays a blushing bride-to-be in new comedy "License
To Wed" and realised a beach ceremony is not for her.
"It was beautiful but man it was hot and it kind of killed that
fantasy of wanting to get married on the beach with a private
little ceremony - it's sticky and humid," she was quoted as
saying by contactmusic.com.
