Holmes to wed only after birth

New York, Dec 29 (IANS) Actress Katie Holmes has slammed rumours that she is keen to wed Tom Cruise before she gives birth to their child.
Holmes said she has no plans to wed while she is pregnant because she wants to look her best on her wedding day, reported hollywood.com.
She said: "All these rumours that we are getting married this week or next, they are just not true. I won't be waddling into my wedding with a big bump."
Spielberg plans 'Mary Poppins' remake

London, Dec 29 (IANS) Filmmaker Steven Spielberg is planning to remake the classic 1960 musical "Mary Poppins."
The director of the London stage show of "Mary Poppins", Richard Eyre, was approached by Spielberg to direct a new version of the original, reported contactmusic.com.
Eyre said: "Spielberg wants to make a new film of 'Mary Poppins' and we have talked about it a lot. It will be hard to outdo the original, but kids love the story and I am sure that the remake will be a real success."
John Lennon's son looking for love

London, Dec 29 (IANS) Kate Beatle John Lennon's son Sean Lennon is so desperate to find love that he is using the help of a newspaper to find a new girlfriend.
Lennon said he was looking for someone who was under 45 and intelligent with a kind heart, reported conactmusic.com.
He said: "Any girl who is interested must simply be born female and between the ages of 18 and 45. They must have an IQ above 130 and they must be honest. They must not have any clinical, psychological disorders... and a kind heart.
"Clearly beautiful - but beauty on the inside is more important - but no deformities, third legs, fifth nipples... I am completely alone and I am completely miserable."
Tom Cruise grooming Kerry Packer's son

New York, Dec 29 (IANS) Tom Cruise is supposedly grooming the son of the late Australian billionaire Kerry Packer in Scientology, a faith the actor himself follows.
Cruise became friends with James Packer while filming "The Last Samurai", according to newsweek.com.
A source said: "James Packer was spotted around a Scientology campus in Australia, has made frequent trips in Los Angeles where Scientology is headquartered, and reportedly spent time in Scientology counselling sessions in Sydney - and Tom Cruise is his pal.
"Practically everything that Tom Cruise does has some connection to Scientology. The thinking is that Cruise has groomed this guy to be a big giver to follow in Cruise's footsteps. After all, Cruise is the biggest giver Scientology has."
Crow learning to chill out

London, Dec 29 (IANS) Singer Sheryl Crow says she has learned to relax after passing 40 because she knows she can't compete with her "20-year-old sex kitten" rivals.
Crow admits that she spent a lot of time worrying about her appearance during her twenties and thirties, but has now grown to accept her ageing features, according to contactmusic.com.
She says: "Through my twenties and my thirties I was very hard on myself, very critical. I have let go of that competitiveness. I am never going to compete for radio time with 20-year-old sex kittens. That's not even interesting to me any more."
Hospital in Pakistan receives bed from Brad Pitt

Islamabad, Dec 29 (DPA) A hospital here has received the first of 40 orthopaedic beds that Hollywood star Brad Pitt donated for the Oct 8 earthquake victims during his visit to Pakistan last month, a news report said Thursday.
The UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) delivered the bed to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences Wednesday. The entire lot of 40 beds is worth $100,000, The Nation reported.
"We are grateful to our donor, Brad Pitt, for supporting the relief efforts for the earthquake affected people of Pakistan," UNHCR's representative in Pakistan Guenet Guebre-Christos said while handing over the bed to hospital authorities.
PIMS executive director Syed Fazle Hadi said the beds were designed to tilt from side to side and move up and down using electronic switches and hydraulics to facilitate easy movement of the patients by nurses. IANS

My parents told me and all my siblings that it was fine to express ourselves and whatever we were feeling and thinking, and that's a very New York mentality. Crowe blames newspaper for ruining Christmas

London, Dec 28 (IANS) Australian actor Russell Crowe has slammed a newspaper for "ruining his Christmas" after it published a wrong story claiming he had bought his wife a $3.6-billion yacht.
According to conatctmsuic.com, Crowe was so upset by the story which appeared in the Sydney Morning Herald that he expressed his outrage on his official website.
He wrote, "I do not own a boat, haven't bought a boat... I have no idea what/who the source may be. I'd like to thank the staff of the Sydney Morning Herald for ruining my family's Christmas by taking our boat away from us and also for the dozens of pointless conversations I will now have with (fellow) boat owners and neighbours over the holiday period."
Urban's ex-fiancée warns Kidman

London, Dec 28 (IANS) Nicole Kidman's romance with singer Keith Urban will be short-lived because of his drug problems, says his ex-fiancée.
According to contactmusic.com, ex-fiancée Laura Sigler dated Urban for eight years and believes he cannot commit to a long-term relationship because of his problems with cocaine addiction.
Sigler says, "Nicole and Keith might date for a while, but it won't last very long. I don't know her but I know him very well." Sigler and Urban have not met since they spilt in 2002.
She adds, "It's been hard. There were a lot of lows with the drugs. I don't have any dark past - he was probably the darkest part, but I'm on my own now and I'm happy about that. He's Keith Urban. He's everywhere. I'm trying to move on."
Schwarzenegger's name removed from stadium

Los Angeles, Dec 28 (IANS) Actor turned Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's name has been removed from an Austrian stadium named after him.
According to hollywood.com, Schwarzenegger supposedly upset people in his native country when he refused to block the execution of convicted killer Stanley 'Tookie' Williams in California this year.
The majority of Austrians are against capital punishment and urged the mayor in his hometown of Gratz to grant a request from the actor to rename the Arnold Schwarzenegger Stadium as Stadium Granz Liebenau.
In a letter to the city council, Schwarzenegger wrote, "In all likelihood, during my term as governor, I will have to make similar and equally difficult decisions. In order to spare the responsible politicians of the city of Gratz further concern, I withdraw from them as of this day the right to use my name in association with the Liebenauer Stadium."
'Revolver' tops list of 2005 worst films

London, Dec 28 (IANS) British director Guy Ritchie's movie "Revolver" has topped a poll of the worst movies of 2005.
According to contactmusic.com, "Revolver" was named the worst movie of the year by members of the online British DVD rental company LoveFilm.com and beat out the likes of "Alexander", "Fantastic Four" and "Be Cool".

London, Dec 28 (IANS) Rock band Pink Floyd have beaten out the likes of Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones to be named the world's greatest rock act of all time.
According to contactmusic.com, Pink Floyd was one of the four groups in the top five in a poll conducted by British radio station Planet Rock.
