Iraq money diminishing AIDS budget, says Jolie
Indo-Asian News Service
London, Oct 3 (IANS) Oscar winning actress and human rights campaigner Angelina Jolie is angry over the big difference in the money poured into the Iraq war as compared to the funds spent on fighting AIDS and HIV.
The "Mr and Mrs Smith" actress has adopted an Ethiopian baby girl whose parents were AIDS victims.
According to contactmusic.com, Jolie is trying to build awareness in the corporate world as business figures have the power to pressurise governments.
She said: "I'm not saying I'm for or against war, but the amount that is spent every month (in Iraq), being, I think they said, $5 billion, and to realise that we're spending $15 billion on AIDS, for over, what is it? Three years, five years?"
