Coldplay, Green Day lead MTV award nominations

London, Sep 28 (IANS) Music bands Coldplay and Green Day are the leading nominations at this year's MTV Europe Music Awards.
According to contactmusic.com, Coldplay is up for five awards including Best Group, Best Song for "Speed Of Sound", Best Album for "X+Y", Best Rock and Best UK And Ireland Act.
Green Day has received nods in four categories, including Best Album for "American Idiot", Best Group, Best Pop and Best Rock.
The other top nominees include the cartoon group Gorillaz and singer Gwen Stefani.
The awards ceremony to be held in Lisbon, Nov 3, will see performances by Coldplay, the Foo Fighters, Green Day, Robbie Williams and The Black Eyed Peas.
The annual event will be hosted by irreverent British comic Sacha Baron Cohen.
