Lucas embroiled in union battle

Los Angeles, Oct 11 (IANS) "Star Wars" director George Lucas is embroiled in a union battle after he filed an unfair labour practice complaint against the stewards who are in charge of the sound editors who work for him.
Lucas and his producers are claiming that union representatives have frozen talks of negotiations concerning a new contract by cancelling meetings and also by not responding to requests for information, Internet Movie Database reported.
Lucas' right-hand man Howard Roffman says: "We have spent four very frustrating months and have been unable to get the union to the bargaining table to negotiate. We've got a business to run here."
Roffman also expressed his surprise when he said that he cannot understand why anybody would have problems with Lucas since he is such a great boss.
He adds, "This is a guy who has taken care of his employees like very few employers on this planet."
