Indo-Asian News Service
Los Angeles, Oct 11 (IANS) Peter Jackson, the Oscar winning director of the "Lord Of The Rings" trilogy, has just won the rights to the video game Halo and will turn it into a film.
According to Internet Movie Database, the New Zealand native reportedly got addicted to the video game while filming his recent movie "King Kong" starring Jack Black and Naomi Watts. And like with the "Lord Of The Rings" trilogy Jackson will film the movie "Halo" in his native country.
"Halo" is the latest in a growing trend of video games-turned-movies in the likes of "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider", "Resident Evil", and "Doom".
The game has already gained immense popularity by selling over five million copies. The game revolves around a super soldier of the future named Master Chief as he fights to save mankind from aliens.
The producers of the game say, "We're delighted to have someone who's as committed to the Halo universe as Peter Jackson was to Tolkien's Middle-Earth".
