Doors infighting after drummer snubs fortune
Indo-Asian News Service
London, Oct 9 (IANS) The Doors drummer John Densmore has turned down $20 million in offers from advertisers to use their music that carries the legacy of the late lead singer Jim Morrison.
The move has reportedly angered other band members Robby Krieger and Ray Manzarek.
Densmore's attempt to not cheapen the band's image has put his relationship with the other band members under strain, according to contactmusic.com.
He says, "People lost their virginity to this music, got high for the first time to this music. On stage when we played these songs, they felt mysterious and magic. That's not for rent. I gave every cent to charity, Jim's ghost was in my ear, and I felt terrible. If I needed proof that it was the wrong thing to do, that was it."
