Phoenix says Cash was a better actor than him

London, Oct 5 (IANS) "Gladiator" star Joaquin Phoenix says he was amazed when he met the late Johnny Cash because the singer greeted him by reciting his lines from the film.

According to contactmusic.com, Phoneix who depicts Cash in the upcoming "Walk The Line" was also a bit disturbed when he realised that Cash's impromptu acting was better than his own in the movie. 

He says, "He gave a better performance than I did. He relished every word."
