Madonna raises money to protect environment

New York, July 8 Ageing pop icon Madonna performed at the Live Earth concert in London to raise funds to protect the environment from "herself".

Madonna has invested about $2.7 million in companies that are creating the destruction that Live Earth is trying to raise awareness about, reports pagesix.com.

"She has invested in several companies named as the biggest corporate polluters in the world," said a source.


 

Lee condemns Hollywood 'hypocrisy'

London, July 8 Actor-director and producer Spike Lee has criticised Hollywood's portrayal of black American soldiers in World War II. He plans to correct it with a new movie about black Americans fighting the German army in Tuscany.

It will be based on the novel "Miracle at St Anna", reports ananova.com.

Lee said: "If you look at the history of Hollywood, the black soldiers who fought World War II are totally invisible. This is the paradox - black people were fighting for democracy but at the same time were second class citizens at home."

Filming is likely to begin early next year in New York, Tuscany and Rome.
