The top five Kannada albums are:

1. "My Autograph" - The sale of film's audio, which has already completed six weeks in theatres, have been steadily increasing and may create a record this year.

"My Autograph" has the same tunes as in the Tamil original "Autograph", but Kalyan's lyrics have made them more appealing. "Savi savi nenapu" and "Araluva hoovugale aalisiri' are all the rage.

2. "Hatavadi" - Ravichandran's films always generate a huge interest among regular buyers of film albums. He has not only directed "Hatavadi" but also composed the music for it. "Yaaru yaaru" and "Ee preethigaagi" have become hugely popular.

3. "Anna Thangi" - The melodious music and lyrics of Hamsalekha have made this audio a big success. The film completed 100 days in many centres. This is the biggest hit for Mayuri Audio, which is said to be selective in its choice of albums.

4. "Thandege Thakka Mag" - This Upendra and Ambareesh-starrer is a remake of Tamil hit "Thevar Magan" and music composer S.A. Raj Kumar has retained the original tunes. "Kaveri simyaga" and "Jaajiya hoo chanda" are popular.

The song "Dama dam" is designed to introduce Upendra and Ambareesh in the film, which is yet to be released but, according to the Mars Audio Company, buyers are already showing interest.

5. "Ajay" - Ashwini Audio has already released the audio of this much hyped film starring Puneet Raj Kumar. It has six songs but it is "Hare Rama, hare Krishna" that has caught the listeners' fancy.

'My Autograph' leads Kannada audio race
By R.G. Vijayasarathy, Indo-Asian News Service

Bangalore, May 4 (IANS) Only the audio tracks of "My Autograph", "Sevanthi Sevanthi" and "Ajay" have scored well in the Kannada film industry's general bleakness following thespian Rajkumar's death last month.

The industry has pinned all its hope on "Tavarina Siri" - a film featuring Shivaraj Kumar with music by Hamsalekha - to break the jinx.

The top five Kannada albums are:

1. "My Autograph" - The audio stays firmly on top of the charts with the continuous telecast of the film's songs on TV channels. "Savi savi nenapu, saavira nenapu" and "Araluva hoovugale aalisiri" are the top tunes.

2. "Sevanthi Sevanthi" - The film has some popular Kannada folk songs set to tune by music director S.A. Raj Kumar. Even the singers have been selected with care with the sales of the audios and CDs reflecting the quality of singing.

"Maayadhantha male banthanna", "Bhaagyaada balegaara" and "Jaaji mallige" are the most popular songs.

3. "Ajay" - The Puneet Raj Kumar starrer is a hugely awaited film with audios and CDs selling courtesy the hero's charisma. Mani Sharma, one of the most popular music directors of Telugu cinema, has scored music for this Kannada film.

"Ajay" is a remake of Telugu hit "Okkudu" and Sharma composed the music for the original. "Hare Rama hare Krishna" has become the most popular song of the audio.

4. "Tavarina Siri" - Music director Hamsalekha returns to limelight with some fantastic compositions for "Tavarina Siri". According to Ramu Audio, which has released the film's audio, the sales have been brisk.

5. "Shubham" - This film with music by Guru Kiran has not done well at the box office, but the audio is not doing too bad. "Hani hani ibbani" and "Yaarivanu" have proved to be catchy tunes.

No rivals for Kannada film 'My Autograph'
By R.G. Vijayasarathy, Indo-Asian News Service

Bangalore, May 4 (IANS) The Kannada film industry continues to reel under falling revenues, especially in the gloomy aftermath of thespian Rajkumar's death, allowing "My Autograph" to continue in the top slot.

Films like "Sevanthi Sevanthi", "Chellaata" and "Ambi", released after Rajkumar's death, have done less than expected business.

The top five Kannada films are:

1. "My Autograph" - The film, directed by young actor Sudeep, has brought cheer to him and a legion of his fans. It is doing well even in its 12th week and is expected to complete 100 days in five big centres.

2. "Sevanthi Sevanthi" - The film, released a week after Rajkumar's death, has not had the expected opening, considering the pre-release hype. The film, however, has earned critical acclaim and is expected to do better after the second week.

3. "Chellaata" - The big-budget comedy has had a good opening in cities like Bangalore and Mysore. Released along with "Sevanthi Sevanthi", "Chellaata" has held its own.

The success of the film owes much to the performance of popular "Comedy Time" TV show anchor Ganesh.

4. "Ambi" - The Audithya-Maanya starrer, released in the last week of April, has opened well. Whether the film will continue its march in the face of stiff competition in the coming weeks from films like "Datta" has to be seen.

5. "Hatavadi" - The all-Ravichandran film - with the 'Crazy Star' for its hero, director and music composer - had a good start, but is not doing very well now. However, it is certainly doing better than big-budget "Thandege Thakka Maga" with Upendra and Ambareesh in the lead.
