Ramya happy over new role

Bangalore, Oct 27 (IANS) Ramya, proved a highly talented actress by "Amrutha Dhaare," is now ready for another important role in actor-director Guru Datt's next film "Datta". 
 

 
The film will have Darshan in the leading role, cast opposite Ramya for the first time. Shooting for the film will start in December. 

"Ramya's role in this film is different from all the films she has acted so far. She plays a dynamic role like Vijaya Shanthi in the film," says the director. 

Happy over this particular role, Ramya says, "It has a lot of spunk and humour."

Maanya shoots for her fifth Kannada film 

Just six months after the release of her first Kannada film, Maanya is already shooting for her fifth Kannada film. 

Of her three released films, the first two -"Varsha" with Vishnuvardhan and "Shastri" with Darshan - were huge hits. 

Her third film "Shambhu" with young Murali has just been released. Her fourth film "Belli Betta" is almost ready.

Now Maanya is busy working for her fifth film "Ambi" with Audithya. Maanya from Hyderabad has acted in more Malayalam films than Telugu ones.

Rakshitha to be brand ambassador for Rodeo Drive

Bangalore, Oct 28 (IANS) The glamour girl of Kannada screen, Rakshitha, has been named as a brand ambassador for Rodeo Drive, a well-known watch bazaar here. 

Rakshitha is to shoot for the brand's commercials after finishing the committed shooting assignments. 

In the Kannada film industry, actors like Upendra and Darshan have been ruling the roost as brand ambassadors. Rakshitha is the first actress to sign a brand assignment. 

She is busy finishing shooting for two of her Kannada films with Darshan and Anirudhdh in the lead - "Mandya" and an untitled project, respectively. In the second film, Vishnuvardhan plays her elder brother. 

Rakshitha is also acting in "Suntaragaali" with Darshan. Sadhu Kokila directs the film.
  

Kannada action star turns to comedy after accident

Bangalore, Oct 29 (IANS) Action star Darshan is out to reinvent himself in comedy roles. His next film "Suntaragaali" is all set to present this new face of the star.

"I am glad that director Sadhu Kokila has given me a perfect platform in the form of a very good script. You will be laughing throughout this film, which has its usual quota of exclusive fights for the benefit of my fans," says Darshan.

Recently, director Guru Datt and story writer Janardhana Maharshi narrated to Darshan a script that also focuses on comedy. This film will be launched in December. 

These two films together can transform the actor's image, say insiders in the industry. 

Darshan's attempt at a metamorphosis follows a week's rest after sustaining injuries while shooting a fight sequence in his forthcoming film "Mandya".
