Vidyasagar wins Tamil audio race with 'Mozhi'
By Aparna Nath,
Chennai, Feb 21 After a long gap, composer Vidyasagar has come
up with an excellent album, "Mozhi", which is worth listening to
again and again and is number one on the list.
The top five Tamil albums are:
1. "Mozhi" - Music Director: Vidyasagar. Every song in
the album is a gem but the toast of this album is "Kaatrin
mazhaiye" sung by Balram.
2. "Pachaikili Muthucharam" - Music Director: Harris Jayaraj. "Unnakul
naane" sung by Bombay Jayashri is an enthralling song. Lyrics by
actress Rohini are soul-searching.
3. "Thiruvilayadal Arambham" - Music Director: D. Imman. The
album retains its place in the list only because the film is a
huge success.
4. "Pokkiri" - Music Director: Mani Sharma. This too is an album
selling well because the film is doing roaring business. The
music is racy but nothing extraordinary.
5. "Oram Po" - Music Director: G.V. Prakash. This is a
new album from Prakash, who is A.R. Rahman's nephew. It is as
impressive as his first album for "Veyyil". There is a lot of
variety in the songs.

'Pachaikili...' tops among Tamil films
By Aparna Nath,
Chennai, Feb 21 Finally Gautham Menon's "Pachaikili Muthucharam",
one of the most eagerly awaited films of 2007, has reached the
theatres and is leading the Tamil pack this fortnight. The top
five films are:
1. "Pachaikili Muthucharam" - Director: Gautham Menon.
After the stupendous success of "Vettaiyadu Vilaiyadu",
expectations were high from this film. And initial reports say
Menon has not disappointed anyone. Inspired by the novel
"Derailed", this is a bold and different film indeed.
2. "Pokkiri" - Director: Prabhu Deva. This Vijay-starrer
is turning out to be a super hit. The actor, whose last film was
a damp squib, can heave a sigh of relief now.
3. "Thiruvilayadal Arambham" - Director: Bhoopathy
Pandian. The film has given a new lease of life to Dhanush. Many
say his co-star Shriya is his lucky mascot and saved him.
4. "Deepavali" - Director: Ezhil. There is nothing new in
the film but both Jayam Ravi and Bhavana have performed very
well.
5. "Thamiraparani" - Director: Hari. This film, which has
Vishal going around killing people with a sickle, has not been
received well by his fans. It is doing only average
business.
