"Nobody talked of Tamil cinema in international festivals before," said Sanjay Wadhwa of ANAK Audios which has sold over 200,000 music cassettes of the Rajnikanth starrer "Chandramukhi" and is helping the IIFA team with its South Indian film segment.
"Next year, cinema from South India will be part of the Indian contingent in Cannes," Wadhwa promised.
So far, only Hindi and Bengali films have been showcased at the India segment at Cannes. But the trend is likely to change with 14 films from the south going to the IIFA awards in Dubai, starting June 14.
"IIFA is a stepping stone," said director P. Vasu who has quite a few hits to his credit including "Chandramukhi".
