Arun to play cricketer in Tamil film
By Chitra Prakash, Indo-Asian News Service
Chennai, Oct 1 (IANS) After "Iqbal", Indian cricket will figure again as a cinematic theme in the under-production Tamil film "Azhagai Irukkirai, Bayamai Irukkiradhu" with Arun playing the cricketer-hero.
The film's intriguing title - which means "You're Beautiful, It's Scary" - reveals no connection to cricket. All that Arun discloses is that his is a "classy role".
This, however, won't be the first Tamil film with a cricketing theme. Madhavan was a cricketer, aspiring for a place in India XI, with Vineeth as his rival in "Priyamaana Thozhi". Former India captain and swashbuckling opener 'Krish' Srikkanth made a guest appearance in the film.
In a press interview, Arun says that prominent filmmaker Cheran had persuaded him to accept the cricketer's role in the film, being directed by Vijay Milton.
Bharat and Mallika Kapoor also star in the film.
