'Maghave Maghave' audio released in mid-air

By R.G. Vijayasarathy

Bangalore, March 7 History was created in the Kannada film industry when the audio cassette and CD of "Meghave Meghave", starring Sudeep and "Laagan" girl Gracy Singh, was released onboard an Air Deccan aircraft during a flight.

The CD album was released Thursday by former minister Cheluvaraya Swamy. The audio cassette was released by senior bureaucrat Somashekhar and the movie's website was launched by star Puneet Raj Kumar in the presence of glitterati of Kannada filmdom.

"Meghave Meghave" is directed by well-known lyricist and music composer Nagendra Prasad and produced by industrialist Raghu. The music is by popular music director Hari Krishna.

Director Nagendra Prasad came up with the idea and this is for the first time perhaps that the audio of any Kannada film has been released in mid air. Raghu, who is a Kannada film fan, supported Prasad's idea because he was also looking for something different.

"I wanted to do something different in the way we projected the film. I have thought of some different techniques in promoting the film. The concept of releasing an audio album in the sky just flashed in my mind and I wanted to do it," Raghu said.

"Yes, the expenditure involved was huge, but I really wanted to go ahead. And I hope this new concept would pave way for many more innovative promotions for Kannada films in the future," he added.

Prasad said the audio release function has been like "a dream come true" for him.

Gracy Singh, who is working in a Kannada film for the first time, admitted she too was "quite excited to be a part of an innovative audio release function for her film".

"I hope the film also provides the same level of excitement to the audience and my performance is well appreciated in the film," she said.

However, the concept is not new for Bollywood. In 2003, producer Vashu Bhagnani released the music of his movie "Out Of Control", starring Riteish Deshmukh, in mid-air.
