'Jai Chiranjeeva' audio a smashing hit
By B. Anuradha, Indo-Asian News Service
Hyderabad, Nov 20 (IANS) Another Chiranjeevi film, "Jai Chiranjeeva", has set an audio record. The top five Telugu film audio albums of the fortnight are:
1. "Jai Chiranjeeva": The cassettes were sold like hot cakes on the day of release itself. "Jai Jai Ganesh" and "Maha Muddu" are extremely popular numbers.
2. "Ghajini": Hit composer Harris Jayaraj comes back with another notable album. "O Maaru Kalasina" and "Hrudayam Ekkadunathi" have caught on in a big way.
3. "Venneka": Debutant composer Deva Kaushik looks to be a promising talent. "Busy Life" and "Bhagyam Podduna" sound interesting.
4. "Mahanadi": Young composer Kamalakar, who impressed with "Pranam", has done a good job again. "Champakamala" and "E Maina" look to be sure hits.
5. "Chatrapathi": The film's big success has helped the tunes of Keeravani in the audio market.
'Ghajini' pick of the Telugu cinema pack
By B. Anuradha, Indo-Asian News Service
Hyderabad, Nov 20 (IANS) "Ghajini", where Tamil star Surya makes a big impression as a patient suffering from memory loss, is the pick of this fortnight's pack.
The top five films of the fortnight are:
1. "Ghajini": Director Murugadoss packs the action thriller with enough frills to suit the taste of the Telugu audiences.
2. "Chatrapathi": The Prabhas-Rajamoul duo has produced a slick action thriller with well-mounted songs. The film is made for the masses.
3. "Danger": Though the film cannot take this slot for collections, it demands the place for artistic excellence. Director Krishna Vamsi proved that a mainstream film could be made without relying on "masala" ingredients.
4. "Mazaa": The film has definitely belied huge expectations and, despite Vikram putting in a good performance, has failed to take off.
5. "Pandu": The lean patch of Jagapati Babu continues, as the supposed action flick has turned out to be pedestrian fare. Even the luck of hit-producer Kumar Choudury has not saved it.
